Been across the bridge many times, most bridges are counterbalanced pieces of architecture where all components are structurally tied into the rest and severe damage nearly anywhere can bring one down.

Anyway, never fear, that's what Biden's trillions in his Infrastructure Bill is for ? Right ?

Not for pet "green" projects or DEI initiatives - no, none of that.

Although there was a Baltimore pilot on board, it looked like the ship lost power just as it approached the bridge.

From the various camera angles, it appears the ship was in reverse and swung the bow around after most of the ship passed through. The bow struck the center support of the bridge, tearing it out and causing the collapse. The bridge fell onto the bow, trapping the ship in place and dropping a bunch of cars into the 49-degree water.

Terrible tragedy.

I believe it was is (was) the longest span trestle bridge in the world. I remember I was in HS when they built it.
