Default Cardio sucks

I love weight training, I've been doing it for years... but I've decided for pretty much the first time in my life I need to start doing some cardio.

I hate it.

I hate running, I hate walking, I hate riding the bike.

How do you people run without shooting yourself in the face when you are done?

I find it easier than weight training. Just work on your breathing and keep a steady pace and it is not as bad, plus, it is a better workout IMO.

Running is not something you enjoy right away. I know when I started up running again, it was torturous in the beginning. I think the key to making it enjoyable is to build up slowly. Increase the distance / time that you run a little at time. After a while it will get easier and the best part is how it will make you feel. I run 3-4 times a week and the best part is how I feel afterwards. Stick with it....good luck!

It takes some perserverance to get to the point to where your brain craves the endorphin rush, and general euphoric feeling it leaves you long after you stop. Extra oxygen and blood flow to the brain is always a good thing.

I'm right there with you. I've been lifting weights for 15+ years, but hate doing cardio. I'll do 30-60 minutes on the ellipitcal a few times a week, but it's BORING.

I hate cardio, but I hate being fat more.

I agree with you. I find it boring as hell, especially if there aren't any hotties in easy view in the gym at the time. I use the recumb...recob....leaned-back bicycle so I can play games on my phone. But it's still boring as crap and I can only do about 10 minutes before I have to move on.

Drop sets while weight training, however, suit my attention span perfectly.

Running hurts. It hurts my knees and ankles. I ride a bike now and it's great. During the winter I have a trainer that I put my bike on for indoor riding.

Running's bad for your knees over the long-term anyway. A bicycle is a far better way to do a cardio workout.

I loathe cardio but force myself to do it. I mainly do the elliptical as running hurts everything.

I would try to get creative with it and switch it up. When I was going to the gym I would switch between the bike, treadmill, and elliptical. I would also take strength/cardio classes. But even that would get boring after a few weeks.

Now doing P90X the cardio is always changing and that is helpful.

I hate running but I will walk for miles.

I have a pair that I bought over a year ago. In the beginning they helped a lot with knee and back pain but now I am noticing the pain is back even when I wear them. I might need a new pair.

I don't mind it at all. I actually prefer it to weight training. Running, swimming, playing basketball, I do it all. One of my favorite parts about running is setting goals and surpassing them.

My current cardio routine is full court basketball 3x per week, 5 mile run (between 31-32 min time) 2-3x per week, 1 mile swim 1-2x per week, 20 min of 30 sec on/30 sec off HIIT 1x per week, and the P90X plyometric workout 1x per week. Every now and then I'll run 1 mile at the track, current best is 5:11. I want to break 5:00.

As a former fatass, I'm hellbent on dropping this last 5 lbs of fat I have left.

Yes. Unfortunately, years of basketball has taken it's toll.

I used to run a lot, then one day I got new shoes.

Then I ran for the first time in my new shoes and fecked my foot up for several months. Plantar fascitis among other things.

Did 13.5 hours of cardio (SBR!) last week. Lifting weights sucks.
