Once more, 2013 was the last factory produced 427 Corvette. Please forgive my "big block" misuse.

Yes. Priorities change as we walk through life.

When I consider spending 50-100 large nowadays I think about a new hvac cab tractor or mini excavator.

Fact is, about 500K would set me up right for vehicles and equipment. And with that I could fit a Vette in the mix.

Thanks for the compliment man! I really was very lucky to have found this one. I purchased it from the widow of the original buyer. It’s all original five star bowtie, NCRS, Bloomington Gold benchmark survivor. I’ve had this car campaigned through the systems. It is a real car, I even have the build sheet

People are paying ~$100k for a Jeep, Bronco, etc.

The car market is nuts!

Before the pLandemic you could easily buy a nice Ferrari (used) for a little over $100k. No idea what they're going for now.

$100k for a Jeep....blows my mind 🤯

I understood but as I admitted, I used the wrong wording.

Keep in mind I’m old I read 427. I think big block.

I know, and I love the LS6 clone I had in my 70 Chevelle.
GM did put a 454 Big Block in a C4, called Big Doggie.. I think they were testing drivetrains.

Actually, no. Surprisingly enough, whether it is a "big block" or a "small block" is dependent on the size of the block.

If we are talking original equipment on C3s, then yes, the 305s, 327s and 350s were small blocks, and the 427s and 454s were big blocks. It got more complicated as time went on.

In 1974, Corvettes were available with a 454 cubic inch big block engine.

I wonder why, in the mid and late 50s and early 60s, Chevy never offered a 348 or 403 BB in the vettes?

Wasn't the 403 the detuned motor in the late 70's Trans Ams? Everyone wanted the Pontiac 400 v. the Oldsmobile 403, as I recall.

Yes, he does. "She's real fine my four-oh-nine."

As I recall, those engines were originally truck engines (W block?) although that doesn't mean much. You could order early-mid '60s Chevy cars with them, they also could be ordered with dual quads I think.

My high school buddy's older brother bought a new stripped '68 Nova, built a 409 with quads from the block up and dropped it in, beefing up everything else.

It was a total sleeper except for the exhaust note and big tires in the back.

The 396 BB in 1970 was actually a 406BB(or 400), they just never told anyone, for instance
.
