Default It's been a year

Since Mom passed away.

Miss talking with her and making her laugh, and sending her snake related stories (she hated snakes).

This is her in 2012, at a celebration for their 50th wedding anniversary, the bouquet she has is an exact copy of the bouquet she had on her wedding day.

My mom passed away 8 years ago and she was fascinated by snakes. I sent her a printed picture of an anaconda that had eaten a grown man and she took it to her vet to verify it was not a faked picture.

I’m fascinated by snakes as well, and I know the photo you’re talking about. What did her vet say?

Without a doubt real, although the victim is normally a small child.

It's clear that you have nice memories, and will keep them close to you.

I lost my mother in 2012, a few days after I retired. She was nearby in a care facility, and I thought i'd be able to see her more often when I retired, but I'm thankful for the times we had, and I think of her often. I think that for the most part, our parents made us who we are are, and affect how we live our lives long after they're gone.

You just never know. 8 years ago Mom was standing on the toilet to paint a spot on the wall, she couldn't wait for Dad to get a stool. She slipped getting off and landed on her rear. She seemed to be okay but in reality the fall had torn loose an artery in her brain, in less than 5 min she was dead.

Appreciate the living, because you just never know.

I’m so sorry 😢.

It’s stories like this that make me cherish having my dad around today. 1982 he was painting a house and had one area he needed to finish up and instead of coming home one block to get his own ladder (aluminum) he used the homeowners ladder (wood) which broken on his way down. 12’ fall to the driveway, touch and go on survival, amputation, never walking again, etc. In the end. Through the miracles of medicine and some great surgeons, he walks and has all his limbs, disabled yes but he is still in our lives and I am blessed.

Lost my mom in August. Dad passed nine years ago.
Mom did OK until this damn Chinese virus hit. She was living alone in the house they bought when I was two years old. She was scared and wouldn’t leave the house other than to go for a drive. Wouldn’t go in anywhere but it got her out of the house. Finally in May she was able to get her second shot so Becki and I flew up to see her. She was so happy to be able to see people again

August 12 I got a phone call from my youngest sister who lived near her. She stopped in to see mom and found her in her bed with her rosary in her hands.
She would have been 91 in October

December 26th was the 50th anniversary of my dads passing at age 46. Gone way too soon. Mom passed 20 years ago this coming May.

It leaves me feeling a bit melancholy seeing these snapshots of their lives. Being alive creates such an odd predicament. It’s hard to experience the loss of the people we lived and loved but the alternative is?

I hope it ends well for all of us. That these losses are temporary and simply contrast to give meaning to existence? I’ve had experiences that give me hope but I imagine I won’t know for certain until my own curtain falls.

God Bless and Happy New Year.

I have two sisters that I can't imagine losing even though we know it will happen and ...maybe soon.....I told them the only good thing about going first will be that you won't have to be sad,cry and mourn .
