I like the Ruger. Don't care for uppers that don't have the forward assist.

I was just surprised at the stock they have. They have bullets and brass as well, although internet sellers are getting some in as well.

I'm finding brass 5.56 and .223 all over the place and locally. Prices are coming down, too.

You would think that at some point, the 'never owned a gun before panic buyers who rightfully freaked out at the state condoned blm/antifa rioting' would all have purchased their gun by now, and the people who are already gun enthusiasts would be deterred by the high price of guns at this point, in the same way many folks are holding off on a new car purchase, because of Bidenflation.

I certainly won't be in the market unless and until things settle down, which may not be for another 3 years, unfortunately.

I think after yesterday's results, gun grabbing and gun banning by Congress is a dead issue, so availability shouldn't be the problem, the problem is pricing.

Can't remember needing forward assist. I press on it regularly but it's just for reassurance. My brass deflector is functional but no idea if that's a necessity since I've never shot a 556 without one.

That aside, I'd say if you plan to shoot heavy bullets the Ruger is the better choice (1:8 twist). The bullets I've always used are more suited to a 1:9 twist and I'm fond of an HBAR (heavy barrel). Chrome-moly bore should enhance longevity. So I'd give the RRA a try if it was my choice.

Deflector definitely isn't needed unless you are a south paw, but it does make it nice for the person in the lane next to you. Me, I'd rather have a set up to catch the brass so I can use it for reloading don't have to search for it all over the ground.

Yeah, the barrels are way too long. 10" is more than enough, for .300BLK anyway. Plus 10" of suppressor. That reminds me, deer season starts this weekend, time to kill a couple with my 'assault rifle'.

I clear out the lanes beside me with a few shots from my .454 first!

Buy this upper for $300
https://palmettostatearmory.com/blem...t=51655111124B

and this matching lower for $140
https://palmettostatearmory.com/blem...ent=516445843B

Put two pins in and it's ready to go.

Palmetto State Armory is a manufacturer so you get better quality for less money. Both items are "blems" but they are fussy as can be and you probably won't find the defect in the finish.
