Seems speedo issue fairly common.

He's looking for tach issues now.
Thanks for the link. I'll check the wiring at the ECM like it shows.

Thanks for the link. I'll check the circuits shown but if it is going to need soldering then to replace the unit. At 75 years old (76 next Friday) my hands are not steady enough to do any soldering.

The tack will read about 500 when first hitting the start button but will peg out over 7000 when the engine fires. It stays at over 7000 when engine shut down.

Seems any of the used ones have the same issue. Maybe get someone to help with the project has steady hands(wife maybe?).
I have to take some calming pills and a drink if start shaking when doing electronics work anymore. Some days it's just a no go. Luckily it's removable so if have to can take it somewhere have done also.
I'd do it if I was in your neighborhood, big ass new magnifier (with led lights) just purchased for such projects. That and a circuit board holder.

Wife's hands are same as mine. Besides pulling teeth on an awake tiger would be easier then getting her to do any work on a car.

See what your guy thinks about the edited section of my prior post.

My wife would kill me with a pork chop bone instead of helping bleed brakes...
Like it's hard or something, never known a wife didn't bitch about that either.

Had a question, has the dash been swapped out you know of?
Seems the boards are different between engines and models even.

He said they were a known issue, he never had soldered them as used were still available that worked but knows the boards had to be same number, trial and error on other s he said sometimes they'd work or they'd be pegged/not work or just be off alot.

The dash has been swapped. There was a digital one in the car when I bought it. The speedometer and the tach did not work on it. I sold it on Ebay and apparently it worked fine as the buyer did not get back with me.

The original cluster back, without any gauges, was in the trunk. I got a used cluster that matched the number on the back of the stripped one.

My remembering was fuzzy on what exactly had gone on but knew something wasn't working. Good luck, might need a different board then, not sure myself.
At least something to go on.

A new, made in America, board is only $39 on Ebay. May try that after testing the wiring at the ECM.

Warm here today so spent most of the day outside or in barn. Stripped a few parts off a parts car, cleaned the huge mess I've made in barn when it was cold out.
Fixed a bug catcher (uses a ultraviolet light to lure and fan to catch them) fan motor bushing tied up. Just happen to have a fan motor from a small heater thats the same. Saved me 40 plus bucks from buying a new one. Most fans use the same crappy motor, the newer motors are not made well. Bushings aren't aligned or the used crappy bushings as they don't last. The older ones lasted a long time.
I swear I work longer and harder just fiddling around looking for stuff to do than an actual project.
3d printed some Sawzall blade holders so can use them by hand. Cordless battery holders printing now.

Have a good evening everyone

Wife has had a runny nose for a few days. No other symptoms except she lost most of her sense of taste and smell a couple days ago, so she went for a COVID test. Just got the results - positive. We follow the science so she needs to quarantine for 5 days. I just moved her into the garage with the cats. She’ll have to look at the C7 tail lights, but she’s strong so she’ll pull through.

5 days my ….! Still not over it and it’s 26 days. You should bring the cats inside so they don’t catch it.
