Don't take the term moron personally, everybody knows that I only refer to non-forum members in that manor.
My cycle is a 1993 so the high beam is proabably as bright as a newer model low beam.

It does seem to help with less morons pulling out in front of me.

I ride, but today I had a bike in the turn lane opposite of me and he had some type of wig-wag thing going on his lights. Even during the day it was kinda painful to look at. I could see him in on coming traffic and the other guy closing his eyes. Then you have a whole new can of worms opened.

They have strobe light kits for bikes now.. Even worse than high beams IMO.

On Monday, I was riding my bike to work, with my high beams on, broad daylight. I saw a car approaching me head on at about 40 mph already across the center line. With my horn blaring, the woman, yapping on her cell phone, continued all the way into my lane. As I crossed the center line to my left, I watched her go halfway off the road. ON MY SIDE OF THE ROAD. And she never saw me.

Unless I had a sign on the front of my bike that said, "Shoe's half off at Macys." I don't know what else I could do to draw attention.

I switched to 8K HID headlight myself. My light is the whitest you can get-right before you go to blue. As I've said before, since I changed to HID,I have people at the intersections look me in the eye so I KNOW they see me. I haven't had any intersection close calls since installing it. Wife runs one in her bike now as well.

People complaining about MC's using high beams, headlight modulators (which I find annoying) brake lights that flash like a cops need to ask themselves why we spend money on that BS VS. performance/comfort.

4300k is for most lumens.

I am thinking of getting 55w 4500k, maybe 5k. (over the standard 35w variety)

I prefer 6,000 kelvin as that's the closest to the natural light on a clear and sunny day.

I just read this on the web:

Number of motorcyclists killed with HB's on = a bunch
Number of motorcyclists killed with HB's off = a whole lot less.

I'm pretty sure it was official, it was conducted by RC Helicopter Enthusiast Magazine.

Your post would be interesting, except for one thing: Nobody cares what you think.
