What is your opinion of the new political correct workplace?

I think it's gone too far. First let me tell you, I am a 53 year old female. I was in a male dominated production environment for years and I held my own. I swore like a sailor, was sworn at on a regular basis, had many sexual comments directed at me, was told dirty jokes and told a few myself. I just laughed it off or told the OP he was an asshole. I just think people, men and women, need to lighten up a bit and stop taking everything so seriously. I'm afraid to even open my mouth and speak at work anymore for fear of someone complaining.

What's your opinion?

Unless your employment is in jeopardy I'm with Chas on this one ... you thought they were your friends but they're not ... some people can shake it off better than others ... check yourself before any outburst ... it'll pass and pass better by minimalizing the whole ordeal and the sun shines a little better each time you come to terms with it ...

I agree … I said the same thing when those kids three years ago where sneaking around hanging Nooses on trees. I said, they should have the right to hand as many Nooses as they want, I just wanted them to do it in the light of day.

I will remember that one. Usually I just laugh as I'm walking away. And I've learned a long time ago, that NO ONE is your friend at work.

I just don't get how we've become a society that you have to walk on egg shells and rethink everything that comes out of your mouth before you say it for fear of a coworker being offended. And I hate that term "perception is reality".

The sad truth is, these days, I would err on the side of caution if I was an employee, especially at a large corporation. You'd have to spend too much time worrying that the wrong people were going to overhear your conversation and get butt-hurt, that it would just be better to take the high road, and pretty much steer clear of politics, religion and controversy.

Stick to this forum, where it's safe.

Wife is age 59, little granny 14x over, and so some of her clients got a bit rowdy on the job, a NYC accountant and some outta town guy....she had to endure a day of bullshit from them with off color jokes and unprofessional behavior.....she came home rather upset.....

I volunteered to have a talk, she got all hard assed about it, and told me NOT to, decent paying clients are hard to find these days.....

ME, a simple house cleaning....eff it....

ok to tease and joke back and forth to an extent, but when MY wife gets upset, time for pay back....them eyes don't cry...period....
