While welfare is something that Socialists tend to support more often than some other groups, it doesn't belong exclusively to them. Socialism addresses only the extent to which government and private industry are kept separate. As contrasted with Communism (no separation) and Capitalism (complete separation). All three of these concepts allow for redistribution of wealth and welfare programs, and there are followers of all three who support such ideas to some extent or another.

Well I have a coworker that labels alot of things as socialist. That’s typical of the political fear that has been propagated over the last couple years, but usually the word socialist is a substitute for something else they’d rather say, but would be viewed as politically incorrect or worse. Usually, the cowards like to play innocent but stupid is the real results.

Example: Any intelligent individual who knows what Hitler was; what his political views were; and his physical mark on the World, already knows what calling some bay that really means. So when someone calls another individual Hitler, I think anyone who has 10% intelligence knows what that really means.

Jared Loughner was an insane conspiracy theorist (which is a redundant statement). Unfortunately, both insanity and conspiracy theorists run throughout extremists in both liberal and conservative groups.

Everyone remember that woman who shouted "except Obama" during the reading of the Constitution? Tin-foil-hatted conservatives declared her a liberal plant. Only it turns out that she was a well-known cheerleader for the right.

Both sides suffer from it.

Not surprising given that women (the usually less violent sex) tend to be Democrat significantly more often than men do.

While the spread between Democrats, Independents, and Republicans follows a nice bell curve amongst men, centered within the Independent group; women follow a steep downard slope, with 41% being Democrats, 29% Independent, and 28% Republican.
