Fluid change . . .
Okay, time to liven this forum up a bit, the last post was 2 months ago.
My '07 has about 52k miles, so had a buddy do a complete fluid change this week (but not engine oil, I will do that in a couple weeks). Total bill was $868. He's semi-retired so he charged me his price for parts, and labor was only $79/hour. Another guy I know just recently had his '08 done at a Chevy dealer and it was around $1100 as I recall. Does that sound about right for a dealer? |

More than what I would want to pay.

I'm old and don't do anything anymore; I have a lot more money than I do energy so paying guys to do stuff doesn't bother me. Not that I can't do things physically, but I don't want to. I can barely get the mental energy to fill the washer fluid.
Getting on my back in the gravel and changing the oil gets harder and harder every year. Getting down on the ground is easy, getting back up is the hard part. FWIW: The fluids I had changed will still be fine when I draw my last breath, so that was a one-shot deal for me. This is what I have to do to change the oil: |

I'll do it myself for as long as I can, even planning on a lift to make it easier when I can no longer crawl on my back. The main reason is, that way I know the correct fluid was used and was done right. Look on youtube for hidden camera where guys were charged for service that was never performed.

But I get your point. I was like that all my life up until the last few years. |

Unfortunately for me, I'm the only car guy in my small circle. So I don't have someone to do this stuff for me. Eventually I'll just trade 'em in at 40k miles.
