Lots of dogs are spooked somewhat by fireworks, but your dog probably also has PTSD from the tornado.

Well, it looks like Covid has killed off most, if not all, of the firework events in the area

And...starting tomorrow night I'm dogsitting 2 very active Labrador retrievers

Guests coming. But maybe next year.

We need to have a good California get together after all this BS is done. We’ll even invite the NorCal folks.

Yes, I think he has PTSD from the tornado. I’ll never forget the lady at the humane society telling me that if we couldn’t keep him could he please just stay at our house instead of the shelter.

Stupid shit you do when you are young and drunk/stoned
A few years ago we were woken up in the wee hours by a commotion out back. Mrs Flex looks out the window and starts freaking out. Calls me to come see.

Bunch of dudes are shooting roman candles at each other across the field. I just laughed and told her I did that when I was a teenager too. It was great entertainment.

Some fireworks shows have been canceled while others are happening. The largest has moved their launch area to an undisclosed location. They are streaming the show live. Bizarre.

Next year. Maybe April? Before it gets too hot.

A bunch of us did a Vegas trip several years ago together. Nox (of course), Colleen and Mark, Olivier (GrandSportC3), JamminJean, dvnst8, Interceptor and a bunch of others that I can’t remember off the top of my head. Met up with some folks that lived in Vegas, as well. One of them even hosted a BBQ at their place one night.

Shoot...that was in spring 2007, I believe? I remember that it was a 5 or 6 months before Nox and I were married. And it was right when Olivier met his (now) wife. In fact, she was still living in Mexico at the time.

Anyhow, even after that we used to hang out (SoCal folks) quite often. Various holidays and BBQs. Colleen and Mark, TukTuk, IronChef, American Made, Chinaski, JustinStrife, Dingo (whenever he landed in town). I know I’m forgetting some.

But everyone gets busy and goes their own way. Having kids, getting married, moving away. It’d be nice to get together. If we tried Vegas again, we could probably even drawn in some non-California people to join us.

House caught fire in Buffalo this morning. Looks like fireworks caused it. People claim two groups were firing roman candles against each other.

DA claimed last week he'll throw the book to the maximun extend of the law at anyone that causes damage with fireworks.

From the linked article

"BUFFALO, N.Y. — Fire crews responded to a two alarm fire early Friday morning in South Buffalo and the Buffalo Fire Department is looking into whether fireworks may have played a role.

A house on the corner on Hillside Avenue at Dismonda St. near Cazenovia Park, went up in flames Friday. Crews responded to the scene just after 4:30 a.m.

Buffalo Fire Commissioner William Renaldo told 2 On Your Side, "We strongly suspect fireworks were involved. There were witness statements saying there were two groups firing roman candles at each other. There was a significant amount of firework debris found in the area and neighbors pretty much confirmed there was a lot of firework activity in the area at the time." the commissioner also said that they are reviewing security footage near the scene as part of the investigation.

The fire caused a partial collapse of the roof, but everyone was able to make it out safely. Damage is set at $215,000. A home at 40 Hillside suffered $30,000 in exposure damage."
