Default 4 Stroke Marine Motor Question

My Yamaha 90hp runs great.
I'm just wondering if I need to add anything to the engine for maintenance purposes.
Oil ? Gas conditioner ?
I've never had one before so it's not like a car motor where I know everything that I need to do.

Am reluctant to help a Trump hater, but bless your heart, it isn't your fault you fell and have to wear a padded helmet,
so.....

I take it your 4 stroke is a fuel injected Yamaha?

Some Yamaha models has a fuel rail with a hidden fuel filter that filters out down to 8 kabillion microns.

With that being said:
stay away from ethanol fuel, it deteriorates rubber and the particles easily clog the hidden fuel filter.
Change fuel filter(s)...add in inline if none is present.
Use best fuel possible.
Use best grade fuel lines and change often (even with seldom use).
Use Sea-Foam injector cleaner (or your fav.).
I do use Mobile1 in my two (115 and 225).
My oil filters are from Merc, Fram, or Yamaha.
Always have fresh spark plugs....you must burn clean to keep Yamaha valves from sticking over time.

If carbureted, never mind the Mobile1, oil filters, or fuel injector cleaner, but, do use the good fuel and fuel lines.
If carbureted, quit leaving it tilted.

If really a two stroke with carb., you need to get better at identifying what motor you have.....

One other tidbit of info; if your model does indeed have that hidden fuel filter and it needs replacing, half the motor has to be torn apart....literally.

Hidden filter is not:
.

It's a four stroke, fuel injected Yamaha 90hp.
I guess that I left out a few details.

What does the owner's manual recommend? Your answers are probably there. Besides a little Stabile once and a while, probably nothing out of the ordinary. Happy boating.

It's my 1st boat.
I took Norm's advice and downloaded the manual.
Yep. I'm wearing the hockey helmet and riding the short bus,so far on this one.
I turn the key, it starts, I go. At the end of the season, a guy comes, throws it on a trailer and takes it for a winterization. In spring, they go through it, the guy brings it to the marina, I turn the key, and I go.
Rinse and repeat.
I was just wondering if it needs oil added or a gas treatment, or anything else.

At least you did the right thing and went straight to the old man pontoon boat instead of wasting tens of thousands of dollars on a series of speed boats trying to prove you are a 22 year old wakeboard and ski athlete.

Ya, it's great. Comfortable and soooo relaxing. I have people for the speed if I want, but at 56 yrs old, I ran my course with that and I'm good.

Actually I was kind of surprised you didn't go for a sail boat. I know you've had threads about doing some sailing with friends up in Washington and it sounded like you really enjoyed it. It is a bit physical, though.

Where I live (largest natural lake in California) I have spent a lot of time sailing with friends, although I never owned one.
