I have the S&W M&P9 2.0 Performance Center version. Well, until that tragic boating accident.

I went through the same debate. As someone posted earlier its a safe bet either way. Bottom line my son turned me on to the Beretta PX4 .40 with its rotary barrel that reduces recoil by a noticeable amount so that even my smaller-framed wife enjoys it (and, she’s amazingly accurate with it at the range with minimal practice). I added a slip-on rubber grip.
Following is a review and notice his final paragraph regarding .40 vs. 9mm which I found interesting and a bit surprising - hope it helps. https://www.gunsamerica.com/digest/g...-storm-pistol/ |

Normally, I would agree but the inertial “physics” of the rotating barrel of the Beretta PX4 is less than a conventional pistol. The Beretta PX4 puts the recoil of a .40 caliber closer to the recoil of a 9mm with it’s unique design.

Yes and if you had a 9mm with the same rotating barrel as the .40 PX4, it would be less still.

Precisely. Opens the door to the .40 cal. as the G-Men are issued without sacrificing much additional recoil. There is something to be said for buying a .Beretta 40 cal vs. a conventional 9mm as there is not much noticeable recoil difference (my son has both) but the 40 cal. is slightly (slightly) larger a little louder - to be expected.
In anycase, that is a pretty good article/assessment article if shopping for a Beretta. Gunbroker.com has them on sale from time to time. I bought the innox (nickle color) version. |

have several of these, full size in both 9mm and 40SW, and compact in 9mm. both the 9mm have been converted to G model with the low profile decocking levers, makes is much skinnier. good option for concealed carry, particularly the compact version which is 15+1. |

Considering the type of drugs people are on these days, going down in caliber shouldn't be an option. I know officers who've unloaded a 9mm on a drugged up criminal and they kept coming at them.
Shotguns knockdown power was the answer. |
