I got an invitation a couple years ago that I politely declined. I've only watched it once, when a friend of mine was on it. Most of, if not all of the problems encountered are staged just for drama. At the Blade Show, most of the contestants are in one area, and they aaaalllll wear Kilts.

The Big Fillet knife was forged from a leaf spring, 5160 steel tough as hell, have to anneal it twice to work it. Sprayed with a mix of distilled water and Walmart gun blue, 50/50. It'll have a coat of honing oil on it when it arrives, gotta clean it off with soap and water, then a light coat of Olive or cooking oil. Unprotected, in a damp environment, it will rust.
Stainless kitchen knife is easy. Clean it after each use, wipe it dry.
You wont hurt the ironwood when it gets wet, as it is a heavy and oily wood.
Just wipe it off.
