thankfully, the plugs on the ends of the wires are an industry standard, so the wires will fit any pacemaker brand. out with the St. Jude, in with the Medtronic.

Early in the morning is the best time to have it done. It gives you a better shot at the doctor being sober.

Three years ago yesterday, my dad got his pacemaker.

The doctor came in his room before surgery and said it was going to be a piece of cake because he just watched a Youtube video on it and he's ready.

this same doc did the original in December of 2012, so his memory should be pretty fresh.

Just curious, what's wrong with the St. Judes? That's what Mom has, and she's got a nifty companion box that sends reports to the doctor every so often, just to let him know how it's going.

Also, did you get a quote from Sea Six? I'm told he does medical stuff like that for half price.

i also have a bedside monitor, that normally reads the status every 3 months and sends results to the doc.

doc said that they got good pricing on the Medtronics if they used them for the large majority of their pacemakers (volume discount). also, this model was recalled a few years ago for potential battery failure. it had the potential to go to zero power with no notice. much like some cell phones do (my last iPhone did that, could not hold a charge anymore). my battery did not fail, but it's near the end of it's battery life, and they want to slip me in before the expected peak in Covid cases happens in mid-May.

I also have a bedside monitor when I go into the pacer clinic they let me know if I had any episodes they asked me questions like what were you doing two months ago on a Tuesday at 7 PM like I'm supposed to remember

About a year ago I spent an afternoon and the next morning digging a ditch. A few months later the pacemaker tech asks “what were you doing on these two days?” Digging a ditch. Busted. “Ok, we’ll put that down as exercise”
