No bottom cavity yet. Size? Connected to center hole?

I think a channel from the hole out the left side (looking from rear) to accommodate the thickness of the cable (no more than 1/4” likely) so it sits flat. I’m might put some little felt feet on it too. No electronics will go in the base.

It reallly looks amazing. Thank you. That is really going to look good!

i like a challenge. it wasn't a big cut, so the set up time for the router likely would have been just as long as cutting by hand. and i could better control/limit any burning or tearout.

getting a straight edge set up (3" offset) and everything clamped securely appeared to be more work than was warranted, with a large chance of failure.

and it gave me some quiet time in my shop.

Compound contours on the opposite side would make securing the router guide "fun".

Under the "would have, could have, should have", it should have been specified before work was started to make it easier to cut using the router.

Sometimes you have to go with the flow

Our plan changed midway through so we didn’t need the channel at first. That channel saved a ton of extra work! Can’t wait to see it.

I’ll start lining up the finishing materials. I have a nice opaque gold used for guitars. Lots of clear over sealer, then color coat. Exactly like guitar finishing. I believe it’s a vintage color.

Got it today. Holy shit great work! After some serious sanding and sealer I’ll lacquer that baby in metallic Gold. Many coats. Buff it out and viola. Now I have to finish the thing.

I’m waiting on finishing materials. I’ll post process images. I’m going to finish it like a gold top Les Paul from the fifties.
