America has always had a dysfunctional view on spying.

We had a Secretary of State say "Gentlemen do not read other gentlemen mail." Then disbanded the cypher unit and then when he becomes Secretary of War used the same re assembled unit to monitor the enemy. And then we disbanded the OSS right after WWII simply because spying was a dirty business.

Spying on American citizens without Search Warrants and the right to due process. is wrong.

I agree, to a point. But don't get your panties in a wad when other countries spy on us. Chinese spying on our industry ring a bell? You know what the Chinese govt. said about it? "Screw everyone else."

We have been spied on by all these countries since our founding. And it's been blatant. Look at all the Chinese kids who came here in the 19070's and 80's and took Physics classes then went home to China to build Weapons.

France, Israel, Taiwan and dozens of other "Allies" have very active industrial espionage programs active in the USA. On top of fairly active traditional espionage efforts.
