I am pretty much in the same camp with 2 exceptions:
1. I got the current Vette new but the next vehicle will be used
2. I own multiple homes but with significant equity due to money down that was profit from other homes.

Have no balance on credit cards and my rentals not only pay for themselves including taxes and landlord meter, but they are paying for the new house we just got on short sale (for about 65 cents on the dollar)

Cars are all paid for and once one more unit is rented, we aren't making a mortgage payment out of pocket either.

Sure wish I was wiser when I was younger.... I should have done this 20 years ago.

The guy is campaigning nothing more. As far as a speech, it was a read.

He wants a "small fee" on banks to help out homeowners? That fee will be passed on to the rest of us. What is the fee?? It's called social engineering. He'd eliminate the need for a new appraisal, a full credit check and eliminate risked based fees. We'll end up right back where we are. He says the average savings would be $250 per month. These people could save more than that by getting rid of cable and a few other luxuries. Talk about the "same failed policies".

He NOW wants to give businesses a tax break to keep jobs here? Feck him, if they didn't tax business so much already they never would've left in the first place.

Everyone has to pay their fair share? Except the 47% of the people who pay nothing or get a bigger refund than they paid in.

Try and find an honest politician somewhere in North America. It's not going to happen. Whether it's in Canada or the U.S.

I think most go in to politics with a thought of creating some good and actually helping their country and people out. Once they get in to the higher levels they are subject to all the bureaucracy and b.s. and either don't have the balls to stand up for their original ideas or are convinced otherwise.

Unfortunately the people end up having to pay for this.
I am interested to see if anything comes out of his proposed "tax changes" though. I think he is hoping this becomes the band-aid on the ever-growing wound on his forehead.

Unfortunately Kermie, I would have to agree with the majority here that his speech was a bunch of fluff.
He just sounded like a whipped man telling his wife what she wants to hear and hopes for the best to come out of it.
