Default Anyone who says electronics/computers work are embarrassed to admit they don’t know e

Printer version:

I have lost my patience and smashed numerous new pieces of shit printers to smithereens because it taunted me with factory built-in non-working "**** you" settings.

I own a 22-year-old HP commercial laser printer that still worked flawlessly.
The toner cartridges lasted what seemed like forever and it would blast out pages faster than shit through a goose. Even full color photo pictures would print in just seconds.

But HP stopped drivers for it to work with any newer operating system rendering a completely functional printer a brick.

They don’t want a printer to actually work cheaply and efficiently, forcing everyone to buy the new printers that don’t work and cost more per copy than what the Staples store charges for a copy.

The workhorse that is now just a decoration:

Cant get my piece of shit newer Cannon printer to actually work.
And I'm royally pissed off.

And the tech companies are ****ing everyone over.

And I’m stuck with a completely awesome working laser printer that they won’t allow to function.

I have an HP4 I had working still up to a couple of years ago.
HP was the absolute best around, i wouldn't give one to anyone now.

There are generic drivers and adapters that you usually can make old printers work OR buy an older laptop run win 7 or whatever printer needs and make it a print server.

It's those lazy, unlicensed software writers again. They mad with envy at the mechanical engineer who created the actual machine.

A printer came included with my first Pentium computer. Supplies to keep it operating were reasonable. By the time I replaced that P90 printers were optional accessories. A quick look at the cost of ink for those left me in disbelief. Have never owned another printer.

Typical drug dealer M.O. First sample is free, if you return for more be prepared to give them every penny you have.

My Brother laser printer worked great until I got a Win 10 computer. Even though it said it was supported, no joy.

Ended up getting a laser for the win 10 machine and the other went downstairs to the win 7 computer.

Why do software writers need to be licensed? I thought you were a conservative dude Yaddy?

I did find a text only driver for it, but it still printed out ridiculous characters on the page it wouldn’t recognize.

I restrained myself tonight, but I posted them at the other place a while back for the ones I did lose my temper with.

Found one of them:

You might also be able to use compatability mode or Windows Printer drivers.

From the looks of things I'd say that not printing at all would be the better option.

FWIW: Printers are easily the most cantankerous, archaic piece of PC hardware there is. They are the Model T's of computer peripherals.

Having said that, I have DJ 2132 that has to be at least 10 years old. It was in my shop most of that time, brought it in the house a year or so ago. Worked fine for a while then stopped. I don't use it a lot so didn't care.

Then I started screwing with it, re-installed the drivers from HP, didn't help. More time went by and I asked on some geek site, guy gave me a link for new drivers and it's been fine since.

Five or so years ago some friends got me a Canon wireless printer for my laptop. With the coupons, in-store deals, etc. it cost me about $30. It worked fine for a while, then didn't, back and forth. The factory software was pure bloatware. I think I got it running again with generic Windows drivers then it died again. Who cares.

That's why I brought the Deskjet in.

My little Samsung laserjet was cheap as hasn't let me down in 5 years.
