Look for "Dragons Milk". It is a bourbon barrel stout, and it will jump all over you in second. Comes in a 4 pack and is a little pricey at around 15 bux. I can get it here in GA at Kroger, and the local Growler place on tap. It is quite good.

15 is reasonable for 4 bottles, I think.
I just read that it's one of their year rounds also, which will be nice if I like it. http://newhollandbrew.com/our-beer/dragons-milk/ |

Try something from Russian River Brewery, I was just there a few weeks ago. Pliny the Elder is perhaps the perfect beer. They also make one called Pliny the Younger that they only sell perhaps once a year and you have to get it at their actual location. They sell out in a few hours every time, with a line about 5 blocks long.
I'll have to try that Goose Island stuff (we get pretty much all their offerings here) but I'm more of an ale guy really. |

I'm more of a wine connoisseur than a beer connoisseur. Now my friend Allan, he's a beer connoisseur of the first order, and he really likes "session ales" which are lower alcohol than some of the more potent ales. Session ales are around 4-5% while many ales like Pliny the Elder are more like 8%. You can enjoy more session ales in a sitting than you could with the higher point ales.

Founders and other make some very good stuff as well.
I got lucky and have found a Nano Brewery within 3 miles of my house. I get a Growler of it for 17.00 and its a vanilla stout. Stuff is smooth and has 9.6% alcohol. |

A few years ago ('04, '05 or so), Michelob (yes, the macrobrewery) made a craft winter brew which was fantastic! They no longer make it though, which really sucks. I liked it very much.

SCORE!!!!
I have gone to the store and cleaned them out.
Chillin' in the fridge: 4 Goose Island - Bourbon County Stout. 2 Boulevard Brewing - Bourbon Barrel Quad. BBQ!! 1 New Holland's - Dragon's Milk. Also a couple of six packs of Founders - Dirty Bastard and Porter. BTW you folks and your beer threads can be expensive. But life is too short for bad beer. |

Bourbon county stout
Oh My God. The description of this from the prior peeps is spot on. My head is spinning after two sips. The tastes before and after are unreal.
I was thinking of giving 1 or 2 of these away tomorrow. No chance of that now. Suffer you suckers that can't find any. |

^ I'm sittin' on the three I have, and I still haven't poured the Brandywine variant yet.
I'm finishing out the night with some Killer Penguin Barleywine Ale. Reminds me of a Killian's red, but more emphasis on hops and fruit. Last edited by DropTheTop; 12-06-2014 at 11:58pm. |
