Default Refinishing Clear Targa Top

Here's how I did it.

Wet sanded through the original hard coating and tint coat all the way down to the plastic with 320 grit paper. Then stepped up to 400 grit, then 600 grit, then 800 grit and finally 1000 grit.

Here's the top during the initial sanding.

Here it is sanded with 1000 grit and ready for paint.

I then applied two coats of tinted clear (a little bit of black basecoat mixed into the clear) and then two more coats of straight clear. I then sanded everything down with 2000 grit and buffed it out.

Here's the finished product.

He always makes things look easy.

My clear top is still sitting the garage 3/4 sanded and it's still on my list of things to finish this summer/year.
