Looks like it was a Cat 3 when it hit the PI. Cat 3's range from 111-130 mph.

I read some of the news today and it looks like the deaths are 27 so far.

It will take awhile to know as many areas are still without phones.

They did a good job of making sure everyone evacuated this time.

I was thinking about this the other day how lucky we are to have days notice that a Typhoon is on the way and we can prepare for it.

Imagine 50 to 100 years or so ago they had no warning at all, and only knew when it happened.

Not sure how long to get the roof fixed, maybe about a week or two, My friend Dodong will be doing it again and start tomorrow after he is finished hauling in the fish.

He greets the fishermen every morning and carts all of their catches over to the store where the fishermen get paid after everything is sorted and weighed.

They all give him fish for his help, and it keeps him in food, and also has more to sell so he can buy rice.

Pretty good deal for him as he makes more in a few hours than he use to make for all day as a laborer.

It was suppose to be Cat 2 in our area, but we heard on the radio that it increased to Cat 3 where we were during the peak hours, still not sure about what the center was but I expected it to be more.

I am happy as I expected to have to fix the whole roof.

We will have to remove most of that side from about halfway up to the top, but a lot of the same material can be used again this time so wont cost as much.

Also on the banana's we didn't loose all, just some, and a few were almost ready for harvest anyway so we kept that fruit and they will be ready to eat in about a week.

They did well..

I only saw minor damage when I rode around the village yesterday.

The homes they have now are built from plywood with steel roofing so much stronger than what they all had before.. with the woven bamboo amakan and nipa roofs.

I think our house took the worse hit in our village this year..

Looks like max winds for Bantayan was about 50mph. Not bad considering what it was like last year.

Any trees down ?

It had to be more than 50 I think.. and there were gust now and then that made you think the roof was going to fly off.

The radio here told us that they had raised the level to Cat 3 for Bantayan Island during the storm.

But whatever it was.. not bad at all compared to last year's Cat 5

I have not been anywhere yet but between Sillion and Baigad, and there was only one tree I saw that fell over the road.

I haven't seen any more, but going to guess those that did fall it was root and all, because of all the rain to the soil.

Some of the people are still living in tents from last year, but they dropped them and weighted them down so they didn't blow away.

Quite a few over in Sillion, but only Frankie here in Baigad, but his house is almost ready, not sure why he has been so slow getting it done as he has had the material for a long time.

I'm just glad it's over and was not that bad as we expected..

How did things go in Cebu at Caimito street?

Everything in Cebu is fine. Just a lot of rain and some wind. Mc said it got really cold (72) and they all had to put in warm clothes. I sent them money to buy food, water, and tarps to close in the balcony. I wanted them to be ready if things got bad.

How is earning? How was his hut?

Irish still has not heard from them but our cell was low batt for awhile.

It did get cold, I even wore long pants and a long sleeve T-shirt the other day.

Ernings hut is fine, even his nipa roof had no damage he said.

He stored all his valuables in our house and stayed here a few nights though.
