You know, during all these discussions no one ever talked about as to how the Covid moved through the country so fast

Because, in general, people are dirty.

Guys leave the bathroom without washing their hands.
Restaurant menus are sticky nasty messes.
Glasses in bars get dunked in some "sanitizing" bullshit that is used instead of washing them.
Tables get wiped with a single rag all day long.
Kitchen health code violations are everywhere.
Ignorant asses sneeze in their hands and then grab a handrail.
Cell phones get set down on tables.

It's a filthy world.

In this heap of nastiness, I see wearing a mask as sticking your finger in a hole in a boat, while 50 others let in water.

That doesn't even take in to consideration, grossly inflated numbers.

Ummm...

1. Hidalgo is not the governor
2. Harris county is not the state
3. The burden was placed on the county BUSINESSES. People cannot be fined or arrested for not wearing a mask. BUSINESSES will be responsible for making sure their customers have masks on or they will be fined.

No, nada, nope!

As DP said, my stance is WELL documented. Slap it, bite it but that fudge factory is an exit only. Try and enter and you’ll get the tip pinched off faster than a cigar in a smoking lounge.

I didn't really put up that much resistance until the rioting and then I decided these experts and people in charge can all kiss my ass. When I saw a video of a mom being arrested for taking her kid to a swing set, while these animals destroy entire cities and jump on cars like a scene from Planet of the Apes, all credibility is LOST. FK'M all. They are hypocritical assholes who don't give two shits about our health.
Rioting created your resistance to mask wearing???? What the actual fuq?

How does that have ANY relevance on your wearing a mask???

To your original question. The idea of flattening the curve was in hopes that people would “behave” as educated, as phases opened. People have proven in many places they indeed cannot.

And yes, the whole COVID IS spreading at a trump rally but not at a protest is utter garbage, but has nothing to do with my choice to mask up.

Harris County (Houston) has mandated the masks when inside businesses, with a $ 1,000 fine for the business for non compliance, but no fine for customers.

Some surrounding counties also do it, some don't. My county doesn't, but my city, which is contiguous to Houston, has decided to do something similar. I can literally drive a couple of miles and go to the next town over in our county and there is no mask order.

Not promoting “draconian” measures either. I am supporting masks in CERTAIN scenarios so we can open back up
So you are saying that a bandana is more or less useless to stop the spread of the virus, right? Do you agree that the dust masks with the one-way exhalation valves are also worthless? If so, then we both agree that all of the masks currently available to the general populace are pretty close to useless at preventing the spread of the virus. Given that, please explain why we should all be required to wear them. Thanks.

I do believe many here were telling me that the heat of summer would abolish this virus. Think we all know now that is complete BS.
I don't remember anyone saying the heat of the summer would "abolish" the virus. It is well known that without a host, most viruses die faster in warmer and more humid environments, and are very sensitive to UV light, so in general, it gets harder to catch a virus in summer time by touching things. Of course, one of the many things the WHO said, and then later backtracked on, was that it seemed very difficult to transfer this virus by touching things, so at the end of the day, who knows?

Somebody wake me when SOME variety of "expert" comes up with something definitive that they won't back away from a day or two later when the politicians get pissed.

The original story of flattening the curve was to not overwhelm hospitals and force physicians to decide who gets treated and who gets left to die without treatment, and because we didn’t have enough ventilators. We were told the number of people infected would be the same, but flattening the curve would spread them out over time. Once it was clear that hospitals weren’t being overwhelmed and we had way more ventilators than were needed the phrase “flattening the curve” was abandoned in favor of “stop the spread,” which now seems to be morphing into “until there’s a vaccine.” It’s that ever-changing goalpost moving that bothers me the most.

Here in FL the number of cases is increasing but the number of deaths is decreasing. Isn’t that a good thing if you want to develop herd immunity?

I know with absolute certainty. I can test every hour on the hour if I choose to. Today was my 6th test in two weeks.

You are correct about flattening the curve, pretty universally understood. My reference was that post flattening the curve did not mean to open into a free for all and forget what we were educated about. Too many people refusing to follow even basic ideas of good hygiene.

As far as the numbers in FL. Will have to follow the hospitalization rate as well as deaths a few weeks after the spike as that is when that number becomes apparent. Sounds like your area is doing OK. Other areas of FL, not so much.

I listened to our fkd up mayor and our latinazi preach to us ad nauseam to not go anywhere, to socially distance, to wear masks, to not collect in groups of more than 10, and then 6. Over and over and over it was repeated...

then they did NOTHING when marching protesters hit the streets. Actually, they did do something...they JOINED THEM.

It's like having half of MADD, get arrested for drunk driving.

You communicate how you are not kidding and you WILL take action by arresting people for cutting hair, or swinging their kids on a swing and the message is clear. Don't fk around or you will get busted...

then turn around and allow...yes ALLOW the animals to run free and JOIN THEM to boot.

THEN, on top of all that, claim it was opening bars that caused the spike that followed the riots.

Kiss my ass ! Shove your rules ! Fk your mask !
