I am now a non-sports fan. When the Colts left Baltimore, I started to care less about football. When MLB players went on strike, lost total interest there as well. I do not have one thing in my home nor do I possess anything expressing any professional sports except a few posters reflecting Corvette racing.

I do have one t-shirt on display in my garage touting a championship………and that was given to me.

So in conclusion………..f*ck ‘em.

Well, if you're only gonna have one piece of professional team memorabilia, you have the right one!

Despite threat of boycott, attendance increases at Sunday NFL games

Tennessee Titans postgame press conference
Fans angry with the NFL and its protesting players called for a boycott on Veterans Day weekend. But other fans showed up to Sunday’s games, and in greater numbers than they had averaged all season.

NFL players protesting during the national anthem have drawn the ire of a significant segment of the fanbase, upset at what they believe is disrespect for the flag and military members’ sacrifice. Almost half, 49 percent, of respondents in a recent poll said they believed the protests were disrespectful to the flag. Many fans have said they would boycott the NFL, and loosely organized movements on Twitter and Facebook sought to flex patriotic muscle by boycotting the entire slate of games this holiday weekend.
However, the numbers don’t indicate that any boycotts, if indeed they happened, had a meaningful numerical effect. In fact, total attendance at the eight early games on Sunday, as reported by the NFL, was up about 1 percent over season averages. Here’s the breakdown, with averages prior to Sunday’s games.

The flag at the Falcons-Cowboys game in Atlanta. (Getty)
Four of eight games were up over seasonal averages, with only Tampa Bay and Washington showing significant decreases. (Chicago’s attendance was down less than 500 from the season average.) The NFL’s attendance figures reflect actual turnstile count, not tickets distributed. (See here for the statistics from 2017 as a whole; individual game stats are available on their individual box scores.)
Also, for purposes of comparison: five of those teams’ average attendance figures have increased over 2016 full-season averages. The teams which saw falling average attendance were Indianapolis (down 1,748), Jacksonville (down 2,362), and Washington (down 853). Granted, attendance numbers are notoriously tricky to count, but it’s worth noting that, for instance, Washington reports an average capacity of 90.4 percent despite the fact that the team has a years-long season-ticket waiting list.)

You have a better source??? Post it.
It looks like another typical NFL attendance season to me.

You mean the middle class that was a big segment of NFL consumers who are not happy with the NFL?
You get my drift !
It really does not matter in the greater scheme of things, but apparently, it is life changing for many posters here.
Otherwise, this thread would have died after the op.

So you start a thread that basically baits people into taking sides, then when they don't take your side, you throw out the backhanded insult "apparently, it is life changing for many posters here". Riiiight.

I'll bet my next few paychecks that no one's life from this forum has been significantly altered by the activities surrounding the NFL. And you've been here long enough to know that almost any thread is beaten to death on a regular basis.

No offense intended...but simply because there are those of us here that see a very different picture of the NFL and find the behavior of many in the league patently offensive doesn't mean it will cause a paradigm shift in the way we go through our day to day.

Nor mine.

How you guys are not watching NFL Football is a mystery to me.
With Dallas doing so well, and all of those great LA teams !

Is there a troll smiley anywhere?

Insert here.

Two weeks ago, I was at a tailgate party at AT&T Stadium with some work friends. They set up a TV on the back of one of the truck. MAYBE I watched a quarters worth of downs, and it was only because I was curious how Prescott (former SEC QB) was doing. I couldn't even tell you how any team is doing in the standings, so any sort of ribbing about that gets a big ol' WGAF from me.

It's pretty easy not to watch if 1) You find it distasteful for some reason and 2) you have what you think are better things to do.

Signed, Chief Troll

I get much of my football fix attending 6 or so college games a year in an 80,000+ seat stadium that's sold out every game since 1999 or before. On Saturdays when not attending a game, I usually have games on the TV most of the day.

So getting my Sunday's back by opting out on the NFL has been easy. Don't miss it all. I live in the DFW area and don't even know the Cboy's record. But full disclosure... never been a fan of them.

I lost interest in MLB during the strike. Now I may watch the World Series, though I didn't know it had started until after Game 2 was over.

Was a huge NBA fan until it went gansta-hoopsta. Little interest today until playoffs, and then mostly just the finals. I have come back a little as it seems to me the NBA has cleaned up the past few years.

I expect I'll be the same way about the NFL. Maybe watch the Superbowl on the DVR and fast forward between the commercials.

I'm not from L-A therefore not an L-A fan. If you're trying to poke fun at me, use the Steelers. But since I'm not currently watching them, the meaning may not be as effective as you'd like.

Also, there are minuses from not watching the NFL. One is not hearing the latest game the Bills got blasted.

"No one cares..." Awesome that you've polled everyone about their feelings regarding my comments, but that's really irrelevant now isn't it? Nice try at the imaginary coalition though

Correct. I don't have to be a fanboy to have an opinion.

It is. But what's equally important (and my whole point) is that the players in college don't proverbially flip off their fans either by acting like assholes. If they do, they're off the squad. I like that too.
