Default Archery?

Any Archers here? I'm thinking about purchasing a Compound Bow. More target shooting than anything else, with the option for hunting as well.

Primary reason is the close proximity to a free archery range close to my house, and just adding another physical activity to my regime.

Not looking to spend a boatload to get started, maybe 1k.

Still on the fence about this, but I think it could be fun.

You can get in with a used setup for way less than a grand. Be aware though that target bows are vastly different than hunting bows. For pure recreation I would look for a name brand hunting compound that's a couple seasons old. Try and get the seller to meet you at an archery store so you can be certain the bow is sound, and also so you can get the draw weight and length of pull set up for you. Or just buy a used kit from an archery store as most here accept trade ins.
Expect to pay between 2/3 and 3/4 list price for the bow, but you will get whatever accessories are with it included at that price which can be a substantial savings since sights, arrows and stabilizers, quivers and cases etc. are expensive.
