Looks like I'm going to have to find something else to do on Sunday afternoons. The garbage they did at the beginning of last Sundays race almost did it and now this has killed it.

Yep. I’ve watched my last race. Damn glad Lowes dumped nascar so I can go there now. Home Depot is off the list until they do.

The funny part is, most southerners never took it to be a racist symbol. It has always been a symbol of independence, and an undying spirit. Yes, the klan and others have hijacked it, but that is the way it is. Slavery flew under the United States flag for a couple of hundred years, until yes, as we all know, southern democrats, broke the south off due to unfair trade practices, and yes, slavery, among other things. That said, the confederate flag has remained a symbol of southern pride, and not so much racism, but let people classify it how they may. Nascrap is done, so good on the folks that got rich off it, because, the stands were already almost empty, now, it's over. Good job you kowtowing pieces of shit.

Like I said I get that it bothers some folks. I am from the South, and as such always looked at it as part of my heritage. Most folks don't even know it wasn't the actual flag of the CSA but instead the flag used on the battlefield and also almost the same as the second CSA Navy Jack. The battle flag was appropriated by some less than savory groups unfortunately. It has also been called treasonous even though the Constitution grants states the right to secede.
Regardless of all that my biggest gripe is allowing protests to occur during the anthem. I feel the same as I did with the NFL situation. Disrespectful and rude. These drivers and crew members are there to do a job they have been hired for. I don't give a rat's ass about their personal opinions nor do I want to know what they are. It's sports, not politics. Leave it outside. I don't care about how you "feel" about anything. I just wanted to see a race (or game).
