Default Are most Chevy dealers competent enough to work on $100k Corvettes?

With the amount of posts I see on these forums and facebook pages about how the "Chevrolet Dealer" and not some mom n pop mechanic messed up their Corvette I have to wonder are most technicians employed at the average chevy dealer competent enough to work on z06 and other high end Corvettes. I understand most of these guys spend most of their time working on the Impalas, Malibus and the Silverados so maybe they just dont have enough experience with the Vettes and mess them up. I remember the guy with the 6 month old Z51 where they messed it up during a simple oil change. So do you look for Chevy dealers in your area that are more qualified when you take it in for service or warranty work to get done?

Once the warranty is up,my vehicles never go back to the dealer.
It took the GMC dealer three tries to get my cracked glass on my outside mirror fixed.Attempt #1 they cut a piece of glass and double side taped it.That lasted maybe a week until it fell off.#2 they finally installed a complete mirror assembly but the stupid lazy dumbass tech tied to cheat and not spend 5 minutes taken the door panel off to properly install the mirror.
I go to pick up the truck and find the panel cracked in half.To say I was livid would be an understatement.Went back inside and got the service manager.Gave him an earful and went back for my last time to get a new panel with the tech who broke it not to touch my truck.
My personal opinion, domestics suck for service. You get herded and treated like cattle,go over everything before you leave the grounds.
Japs are slightly better, you have a problem and can't get it resolved you call HQ whine alittle they will put forth an effort to help you.
High end like BMW is great, free loaner even for an oil change, wash and vac...etc.All services are free until 40k on the wife's car.Just need to pay for gas and tires.

In my opinion, finding a good mechanic/tech to work on your car is a due diligence endeavor on the individual's part. In the auto repair and service business, a good bit of the service mechanic/techs are of a nomadic lot, they will go where they can make the most money. Sometimes it can become a trial and error exercise to find the "right" person that meets your expectations.

I agree with Norm. I got to know a lot of Corvette peeps in the area. I met one that works at a local Chevy Dealership. He works on Corvettes in his off time and owns a Vette or two. When I have an issue I can't figure out on my own or is more than I can take on, I take my Vette to him and get a deal on the cost.

They routinely work on SUVs and pickups that cost as much as many Vettes. A C7, while nice (Yeah, I own one) is still a Chevrolet. There's nothing magical about it.

I really think it’s gotten to the point where the techs have trouble keeping up with the new tech even if they are competent mechanics.
They have basically done a good job on our Corvette and Cadillac but then they have run into a brick wall trying to diagnose the problem with the HVAC on the Corvette and get no help when they call Chevy tech. Trying to get an engineer involved now.
