They took something that’s important and means a lot to me. I’m pretty unhappy about it but it doesn’t really belong to me, it belongs to the nation. I could see where flames in the face could be an issue. For me, there was no berating to or by anyone. Decisions were made without consulting staff. “Stretched thin” has been a recurring theme and I think it could be handled better. A lot better.

It’s a quandary. Find something better. Easier said than done at this point in my career. I don’t hate what I do, I hate how we’re required to do it and I don’t like the way this went down. I don’t work for assholes generally speaking and I don’t want to do something totally new. I will be good at the new thing. It just won’t be the same. I have a pretty narrow skill set in some ways. I can work through the bureaucracy of a pretty bureaucratic place at the highest levels and make shit happen. Where else can i do that?

'Zup bitches? For all the NASCAR haters, they may have figured something out. The friggin' Daytona road course is the shit with these guys on it. If I didn't have a 28 year streak going for the 500, I would dump my tickets and switch to the road course race. Rather than doing that, it looks like I will be doing both weekends until my wife threatens to divorce me.

Nice to see them boys muscling them behemoths around the track. They way god intended and way more challenging and exciting to watch. Wheel to wheel 200 mph roundy rounds just don’t seem the same as the old days. Not sure where it all went south, no pun intended.

Speaking of, I muscled my bike six seven “laps” around this track without touching anything but handlebars and pedals. I’m bored.

For us those are in metro DC area ~50 miles north. Downtown are small old buildings as noted. Fahrenheit service is fantastic. Defiantly enhances the experience. Orofino is like an Italian trattoria. It is really. Friendly young staff, mostly from Italy if not all. Chef Danilo is from Sicily I think. He used to work at a high end joint in NYC and wanted to start his own biz. Glad he came here. We made this early in the pandemic when he did a FB live thing. Chicken Milanese. Pounded flat, butterflied, stuffed with ham and cheese, breaded, deep fried, finished in the oven, topped with Milanese sauce.

Danilo is a cool dude. Chatted with him at his joint. I am happy to throw my money at places like this.

Retiring at the first of the year was the best decision I've made. How did I miss a NoVA restaurant thread? I have no idea what's open back there right now, but here you go...

I'm well aware that Zillow's listing data is not up to date. And their "Zestimate" is often just a SWAG.
