I really do not like studio shots that much...so when I do use backdrops I almost always use black just because it really draws attention to the subject matter and gives me a clean slate. Also I don't have to light it...I simply use High Speed Sync with a fast shutter and black is very easy to obtain.

That being said here is one with a different color and texture.

That just looks so much better to me!

Have you had your hands on a Canon 200L F2? There is a lady on one of the photography forums posting portrait shots using it and natural light. Stunning.
