How many houses have you "owned" as an adult?

How many houses have you "owned" as an adult?

I'm curious with all the ballah's around here how many have stayed in one place most their adult life and how many keep upgrading (or downgrading) every few years.

If you have had multiple houses, how long did you stay in each.

For me, it's one house for the last 5 years.

1 as a single guy, I owned for 20 years.
1 as a married man we have owned for 3 years.

3 Illinois – live in 1, renting the other 2
3 Florida – Parents in one renting the other 2
1 Arkansas – renting
1 Georgia – renting
2 California - renting

Rented a couple places after we got married in 1970!

We bought our first house in 1976 stayed there till 04. In 04 we had a custom designed post&beam built on what was for 23 years our camp property! Retired and likely that will be our last house!

As an accountant I can relate to what your's is going through and at the same time, laughing all the way to the bank

We are in our third house in 13 years of marriage (and several rented apartments too). First house we were in for a few years. Did some cosmetic remodeling and sold, to upgrade. Found house number two and lived in it for almost two years. Needed to upgrade due to family illnesses (not enough room and the cost to build an addition was just as much combined as it would have been to build new). House number three (and current house) was built 7+ years ago and we have no plans on going anywhere else.

We're running out of new ways to cover up gains and create losses, but thanks to the GOP, they've come to our rescue ... again.

I have family in all those areas and plus I'm using a Management Company for maintenance and collection.

As soon as the market turns ... just a little ... I'm cashing in while I'm above water.

I've owned three homes and I'm in the process of trying to buy my fourth. The first home was when I was in my 20's. Lovely home in one of the worst areas of Oakland, CA. The next one was much later in Antelope, CA. Brand new home with no room for my Aussie, so we sold it and moved to hickville - Rio Linda, CA. Separated from hubby and had to do a short sale on it. Now I'm trying to buy another one in the South Natomas area of Sacramento, CA.
