Default Pizzza pizza.......

We got damn sick and tired of the pizza joints around here, super thin no fixings, and by time we got 2 of them and included a roll or two, it ran 25 bux.....or more....

Well my neighbor Chuck recommended Papa MURPHY's...... as in .com order online and go pick it up yourself around here, anyway.....so for Valentine's day I got one, but she had BBQ in the pot already....so we at it tonight.....TEN BUX 16" out the door.....uncooked, heat in oven 425f at 15-20 min.....

OINK!!!!! well worth the trip.....if you can find one in your location, I highly recommend it.....our place did not have any sit down, just carry out....no delivery either....we got a thick crust, and tons of toppings and of course pepperoni for ME.....

i make it from scratch. dough takes 2 hours to make in the bread machine, add any toppings we like, 8 minutes on a baking steel at 475F

way less than $10, and it's just the way we like it. we use swiss cheese, less sodium than mozzarella, which is better for my ticker.

I have been making my own pizza for over 40 years now. When I was in college I worked my way through, working in a real pizza parlor for a couple of years. It was old school real pizza, not like all these franchise places today.

Swiss cheese? Interesting. Laurie doesn't like the local pizza here, so we make our own. However, we do buy the dough at the grocery store.

In Scranton area, the pizza generally sucks, as they don't know how to make a decent pizza. The cheese used is typically processed cheese which turns runny. We'll likely be making pizza at home, with dough from the family bakery. And fresh dough, none of that pre-baked pizza shell garbage, even if it is from the family bakery.

Snide, you're in the Scranton area?? I grew up just outside of there, in Moscow. Still go up there to see my mom. We use to go to Buona's pizza when I was a teenager. And I have a high school classmate that still has a pizza place in Daleville. He makes a stuffed white pizza, lots of cheese and onions. Usually get one when we're up there.

The wife's family home was in Carbondale until it burned down this past August. We're buying a house in Vandling, and will be moving there over the next few months.

Will let everyone know once we're settled in.

Kidding??? Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area is WIDELY know as an area with great pizza. The whole Forge area, mom & pop shops like Antonio's in Pittston.... Growing up in the Detroit area with Caesar's and Domino's,, I'd kill to have a decent PA pizza shop nearby.

Best Pizza I ever had was in Italy...I know, shocker! What was nice was the price, around 7 euros for a large pie.

That being said when not in or around New York I do love Papa Murphy's.

Used to LOVE Buddy's pizza, when we lived in MI (and Shields, too). Now that we're in TN, we settle for Jet's; plus, we found a decent mom & pop place around the corner that serves pretty decent NY/PA-style pizza (Nelly's Italian Cafe). Good garlic knots, too.
