If you really like C5s, then quit looking at $20k VWs.

Though that R32 is a nice looking car, the mods seem well-done...The miles are high, and I'd avoid it for the very same reason as avoiding a used (out of warranty) Audi.

When they do need fixing, the cost of parts is insane. Pretty much applies to any Euro brand.

Apparently when I was out I punched my keys out of the ignition when the car impacted the embankment on the right side of the road before bouncing off and landing in the median. GM keys are pretty damn sturdy but I bent the fvcker good.

Even the 6 speed models? I thought that was just for the automatics.

I've still got half a mind to just go on Craigslist and find a relatively low mileage Miata/MX-5 that I could just pay for with cash. There are literally hundreds of them within a decent hour or two drive from here.
Yep, Mark was right, you didn't do any of that wreck half assed.

About the tranny, I don't know. I know enough to remember some folks bitching about it on a coupla forums I viewed at the time.

Forgot about the previous gen CTSV. Good call. TBSS's are cheap too if you can use an SUV.

I thought it was rear differential issues. Hopping under hard acceleration, etc.

It could be Ted. I haven't read up on a CTS-V in a while.

Just thought of something.. The latest gen WRX. The 2010+ model years. Not the STI either. Little known fact but the WRX is quicker than the STI 0-60. Reason being is the WRX gets to 60 at the top of second where the STI requires you to shift into 3rd to hit 60. You can find em right at $20k too if you look hard.

w3rd. The 265 hp motor (not the 227). My BIL has a 2011 with the new flared wheels and wider tires. It's a beautiful car in the charcoal grey. I haven't had a chance to drive it yet, but it's nice.

Imo, Subaru builds sleeper cars. Many don't expect them to be as much fun as they are.

In 04/05 there was a turbo mazdaspeed miata. If you go miata I would look into them. You can find them for $10k I believe. Alot easier to get more power out of than a NA. My neighbor has a modded one and it rips. I know you are trying to avoid a payment but at $10k you can pay the difference off in a year easy which would be worth it to me.

I really like the 2001 C5 as well as the 2004 GTO that I found...but the insurance on them would murder me. $800-$900 every 6 months. The Miata would be barely over $200.
They're profiling you. Insurance rates on young white guys who blackout behind the wheel are just outrageous.
