McQueen was kind of gruff in real life and a car guy. Had a chip on his shoulder. Wayne was a gregarious nice guy. My stepdad had drinks with him in Hawaii when he was filming Big Jim McClain about 1951 or so and my stepdad was about to ship to Korea. Said Wayne was a great guy who bought everybody in the place drinks...most of whom were Naval enlisted guys about to ship out.

McQueen died from Mesothelioma he acquired doing construction work while serving on a Naval ship as a sea going bellhop in the USMC.

That is what Clint Eastwood does too, plays himself for the most part. That is why they are all great..

I would expect people to be assholes when they have no privacy, due to their occupation.
No different than a social worker constantly dealing with needy people. Eventually you become an asshole.
My friend that has worked for many of the rich and famous says they are all assholes.

Now take someone like Andy Griffith or Johnny Depp or Tommy Lee Jones and you have variety!

If you are going to start that list, you need to put DDLewis and Tom Hanks near the top.
Not a huge star, but Gary Oldham was very good in the Batman and HPotter movies.

And, IMO, he was most excellent in Slow Horses, on apple streaming, this is a must watch if you want to see an old, angry, sarcastic, beatdown boss.
