So sorry to hear this news 😞 I know in my heart of hearts that you have, and will continue to take good care of G-doggo…please give him some hugs and pets from me. My best thoughts and prayers to you both

Sorry to hear this. We had a Schnauzer that went blind toward the end of her life. One of the things you might have to watch for, is anything near the face, she would bite at-thinking it was a treat.

I suspect his modeling career is over which is too bad. He was very good at it. As long as his quality of life is good? I’m good.

Thank you. We’ll keep this in mind.
When my dog went blind, she would sometimes get in to a corner and after a few minutes just sit there. I assume they think the are in a box and don't bother investigating a way out. Sometimes she'd bark for help.

So far things are going pretty well. He does manage to get himself kinda stuck or confused from time to time and consequently, gets a little upset.

What's strange is, his eyes *look* fine. They have expression and movement them. They just don't work.

I'm confident he's happy however. His tail wags like it always did, he barks at things outside, he's alert and being a scent hound has his nose to the ground pretty much all the time.

Damn how these dogs get in our heart. My chocolate lab goes in Tuesday for surgery on her paw. I’m mindful and praying. My wife is very sad and stressed about it.

My chocolate lab Brandy had her foot surgery yesterday. All went well according to the vet. They removed a cyst that had formed in between her toes that was beginning to bother her enough to cause her to limp. It was sent out for biopsy. Vet said it’s probably nothing to worry about but we went ahead with it. She has stitches that come out in 10-14 days. She’s a sweetheart and a great little girl.

Thanks Thomas.
She’s a trooper. Her back leg broken at 11 weeks old. And all kinds of internal intestinal problems. She’s from “the other side of the tracks”. Literally.

But she’s been an awesome pup. I love her like oxygen.

Hijacking this dog thread for a serious question.

Got an elderly dog, that seems to have developed full blown megaesphagus. I've raised the food and water so she has to step up with her front paws to eat or drink, and when I am around, I try to hold her upright for a few minutes after, or as long as she allows before wiggling out of it.

I see there's a design for a chair I can construct for her, but I don't know how that will work. When I'm holding her front up, she usually just sits down, vs. standing on her hind legs. Don't see how that would work inside a chair.

Suggestions?

Sorry to hear about G

It's amazing what these critters can endure and still keep wagging their tails.
Sure wish we could talk to them and tell them what's happening so they aren't scared.

Two years since my botched cataract surgery resulting in a permanent corneal scar on the lens of one eye and macular detached retina in the other.

I barely drive, have to read books in large font on my Kindle and watch TV from about 10' away.

I adapted, your dog will too.
