I had my C4, & C5's up to 110+; felt nice & solid.
only with the GS C6 did I start to warm up; but by then it was too late... the C7 was just around the corner. |

it's because they are all test mules. Many are the same cars that were running around in camo for the last year prior to the release.

I've had my '08 Z06 well north of 160, very stable. With a top speed of 198 from the factory, one would hope it should be stable at 160. When I was at Spring Mountain, and filming from the side of the track, you could hear the whistle of the front splitter aero doing it's job, and they were only doing 125.

In my '74, I think I broke 100 only a couple of times, and that was for a very short distance... (crossing the Granville Street bridge into downtown Vancouver) With my '76, I don't think I had that over 70.

If you drove any car 130 mph for a hundred miles just about anywhere in the USA you would be in jail that night.

I don't do that on public roads. I did it MANY times at the Bay Bottom Crawl down in the Florida Keys...stayed in it past the finish line for another 1/2 mile. VERY narrow road, uneven pavement, and trees all around. The penalty for mistake could be catastrophic, but the car gave me complete confidence. Again, it's a Z06, so it has much better downforce than a coupe.

The 125 mph was done on Hwy5 north of Sacramento on flat ground with no other cars in sight. I only did it for a minute or so since 100+ in California is an automatic trip to jail and your car impounded. |

I have felt 100% in my C4, C5, C7 at speeds north of 100. But, if you took a C3 up to about 90... it tended to float a bit. I know what you are saying though in general. The C8 is not a $200k ME sports car being made in the USA for $60k base price. Of the 6 I've seen in person, there will be no confusing the C8 with other ME cars. The C8 will be regarded as the lowest priced, great bang for the buck, 2 seat ME sports car out there, and IMO it looks like it as well. |

I was told by someone "in the know" that future versions of the C8 (Z06, ZR1 and/or Zora) will be more exotic.
That's great, though probably out of my price range. Guess I'll be keeping my C7 for a lot longer; without any ill feeling. Yvonne and I love the car... and so does the public. Still getting a lot more positive comments on it than any of my past Corvettes ever received. |
