Some folks with more dollars than sense will pay the premium just to be the first to have it.

Wasted money in my eyes.

Being a dealer plate, it may very well have been used on a car Shelby drove.

I knew a guy who paid 15K over MSRP for an '06 Z06.

They did make up for some of it by giving him crazy money for his trade, though. I bought my C6 in April of '05. It was a good six months before I met anyone who paid under MSRP for theirs, and I was in a car club and attended a lot of events with other clubs.

A first cousin had a new one. Got drunk and put it in a ditch. Probably restored and floating around out there somewhere for mega bucks.

I also met a lot of people that summer who said the dealer had taken their deposit and said the car would be there in about six weeks. Trouble is they told them that four months ago and the car still wasn't there. I bought mine for 3K under MSRP because it was a demo. The owner of the dealership had put 1,500 miles on it and I used to work there. For the first few months I owned it, I could have sold it easily for 5K more than I paid for it. It was tempting, but I was having too much fun with it.

When I ordered my 05 C6 in Sept of 04 price was msrp no mark up. I even got $1200 off with the points from my GM Master card. As for what people are paying for a C8 i would rather look for a original 1969 Z/28 or SS396 Camaro.

And here I think it’s stupid to pay $200+ per pound for Japanese A5 wagyu.

Are car clubs as political, ghey, and stupid as I’ve heard?

They can be. The one I was in was a pretty good bunch of people. I haven't had my Corvette for over ten years, so I'm no longer in the club but I still count them among my friends. Sadly, I've been to a few of their funerals lately.

That is nice to hear and also sad, the funeral part. Fellowship can be found in many ways.

Never been in a car club and don’t plan to be. Not knocking it though. Just have other crap on my plate.
