It would be great to see you and have you up here. I'd need plenty of advance warning so I could order a 50oz. steak for you.

[thread jack] I'd be willing to fly up and meet a crew to test out the new restaurant/bar on a weekend.

My dad's been working in chicago lately, so I'm trying to get him to stop by too [/threadjack]

Even though it's winter, I may have to try and pull off a trip up. Will have to deal with the workload...currently doing 14-16 hour days, but I have flexibility. I'll see what I can do for Jan-Feb. Would love to take some laps on the arctic cat.

Crew to Chicago sounds like a plan.

I was going to say if you made it up in the winter we'll head to my lake house for a couple of days and do some riding. You'd love it! We'd just have to find big enough gear for you.

Great question. It's a tough call.

The VW was given to me by my uncle and he taught me how to drive a manual in that car, I felt like such a car guy once I learned to drive it. hahahaha. It was falling apart, completely rusted out frame and underbody as it had spent most of it's life in Michigan.

The Chysler... oh, the Chrysler.... could have a party in that boat and not meet everyone. I fooled around with more than a few girls in that car. And it was my grandfather's, he left it to me when he died, so it had a few emotional ties to it.

The Firebird was the first car I bought with my own money. My father taught me how to buy a car with that purchase.

I know, all emotional, but that's why I'm a car guy.

Congrats on the purchase and moreover, a great kid!

Get up to Chicago and have some of that poutine...in case I haven't talked about it enough, lol.

I'm going to have to try it tomorrow. I bought the place and today was the first time I ate anything there since.

Curious why Gwiz only drove the Miata 2 days a week to school?

The Subaru looks nice, they make reliable, quality cars. When I was in HS, used WRX's and a rare few EVO's were becoming affordable to the wealthier kids...they handled on rails, but my 85 Vette, and a buddies 94 Vette would get em all at the beginning of 2nd and pull away...but they'd get us off the line every damn time.

It's not hush hush now.

We never brought the airbags online, so there is certainly a small safety issue. Beyond that, it's a matter of not risking her investment. She has several hundred hours (as do I) in that car and it's her baby. By not driving it as a DD, she greatly reduces the chance that it could get hit.

I had 3 cars when I was a senior.
72 Monte Carlo
79 T/A
85 Corolla SR5 GT
The Monte was my first car. The T/A was my all time fave. The Toyota was the first brand new car I ever bought.
Those were the days. Gas was cheap, and good times were a plenty.

I don't know to many kids that would think that way about their only mode of transportation. That is way cool.

You remind me of my Dad! It looks like she is very happy with it. You both did a great job raising her to be that responsible at such a young age...Kudos!
