Those “special” businesses will team with, form JVs with, or subcontract lots of work to white owned companies. I’ve seen it throughout my career where the fed gov sets aside work for “special” companies.

There have been Federal and state "set aside" contracts for 8(a), minority, woman, and, veteran owned companies since the 70's at least.... I was a 1099 to more than a few and the management matters more than the cultural/sexual makeup...

As a long time construction worker I have seen a lot of this bullshit on jobs.

The suppliers (woman & minority owned) tend to run late delivering the goods. Also very good at sending the wrong quality ( much cheaper) that was in the specks, then when a complaint is made it gets squashed by high ups.

Most of the minority/ woman builders are a laugh, you name the problem they have it. What it normally turns to is they will partner up with a legitimate building contractor, who will then send good men to the project. The minority owner then just basically walks around the jobs like he/she is king shit. At that point their only job is to look important and sign the pay checks. (of course they make a lot of money being a shill)

A good friend of mine owns a business that deals with these contracts. He was getting his ass kicked on contracts that he would have otherwise likely won.

He transferred 51% stake to his wife rather than the 50/50 it was originally (it has to be a MAJORITY), not a single thing other than that changed... and voila. Now he is rolling in them.

His wife has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the business outside of her name on the paper.

What an amazing system we have.

I believe this is the long-time standard for ALL municipal projects.
Both Miami Tunnel and MIA new terminal were way over costs, never on time, and many went to jail.

I think the new standard will be the bridge project in baltimore, it will shatter records, all while using YOUR AND MINE $$$$$ for a local project.

Washington — A group of members of Congress from Maryland unveiled legislation on Thursday that would pay for the reconstruction and repair of Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge, which collapsed last month when a container ship struck one of the bridge's main supports.

The two-page bill, dubbed the Baltimore BRIDGE Relief Act, would have the federal government cover 100% of the cost of replacing the bridge.

I just reviewed FLL's 2019-2021 annual income statements.
FLL makes money even after the paper write-down for depreciation; I will assume, as most will, that the expense cover 100% of debt service.

I bet my left nut, maybe my right also, that FL airports ALL make money, well except for corrupt MIA, and will also bet my kidneys that not a SINGLE airport in a liberal state makes a damn penny, even though many will have 3X the revenue of FLL.

This, as with all things, is a liberal money grab, as all upgrades and maintenance at ALL airports should be covered by operating income.
