I haven't tried to max out lately, but I'm sure I could do 20 or 30 straight without a problem. I'm not crazy strong, but I'm no weakling either.

I cannot do push ups. My built-in tripod prohibits me from getting within a foot of the floor.

I used to do 50 a day when i was young. With my current physical disabilities, I might manage 4 or 5.

Each morning I practice a strict push-up regimen.

I start out doing zero, then I take a break and don't do any more.

When Chuck Norris does push-ups he is actually remaining still while pushing the entire earth away from him.

At my age I can't do many of them. I suppose ten or twenty, and I'd be feeling it for days.

When I was in high school I held the school record for how many in one minute. I did 60. It's not easy to hold a record like that and still get a D in PE.

When I was in HS I had the record (for a year) for 67 sit-ups in one minute.

Push ups, I usually do 15-20 in a set but I do them with my feet inclined on the bed.
Most people I see doing push ups do them going part of the way to the ground and "mostly" back up all the way.
I do them with a straight back and until my chest touches the ground and back to an arm locked up position.
I can probably do no more than 30 of those without a break.

In my twenties we would regularly do 50 at a shot. Not anymore

I was never good at sit-ups or pull-ups. In fact, I wasn't very athletic at all. For some reason I could do pushups. It helps that I weighed about 120 lbs back then. Our standard for doing pushups was all the way up with your elbows locked in a straight position, then down to a spotter's fist on the ground knuckles up.

In the 7th grade we did the same, but no time limit and you could rest in the up position. I did 75 then.

Your post reminded me of the JFK Fitness Program we had in school. We had to to pull ups, push ups, rope climb, that hand over hand hanging thing (don't recall the name), 50 yard dash etc.

I remember the fist under the chest as the standard. I'd forgotten all about that method.
75 is a lot of push ups for any age.
