We didn't have price gouging laws until after Hurricane Fran back in the 90s.
They have been enforced stringently since. Before a bag of ice would've cost ya 20, gallon of gas 5, tarps 20 to 100. They took a guys tree business last year or year before over high charges. A 200 dollar removal before was 1500 plus after Hurricane. Gas station paid hundreds of thousands in fines(10k per instance IIRC) a few years ago. Yea so **** that guy... |
