Default NFL Football - who is not watching?

I'm just curious - who is not going to watch football this season? I decided to quit watching for several reasons:

1. My team the San Diego Chargers moved to LA. What a fvcking decision by the idiot owner Spanos. The preseason had only 20k fans showing up. I don't see it improving much when the season actually starts.

2. The game has become nothing more than "did my fantasy team score".

3. NFL Red Zone - I'm surprised that the NFL allowed this. Just think - no commercials, and you get to see the scoring plays only.

4. Politics - ever since Kapernick's protest, it has really turned me off of football. I come to watch a game, and I don't like it when it becomes political. He’s got a right to express himself, but he (and the league, and the owners and coaches who support him) need to understand their disrespect of the flag, the country and the thousands who have died to give him the right to express himself is producing some serious consequences for them. He could have easily protested outside of football.

5. Over-saturation - too many games. The beauty of the NFL used to be Sunday games and a powerful Monday night game. I'm actually surprised that they haven't added more days of the week.

6. Commercials - every time there is a field goal... commercials... kick off into the end zone... commercials... player injury... commercials... play under review... commercials... time out... commercials... punt... commercials... two-minute warning... commercials... commercials... commercials... commercials... commercials... commercials... commercials... commercials... commercials...

Now with all this being said, if I was invited to my son's house to watch a playoff or even the Superbowl for example, I may decide to actually watch it.

I don't watch sports of any type, never have....watched the Redskins in the '92? stuporbowl, but not after......watched the Jags in the playoffs some 20 years ago, but not since....in fact that was the last game of any type I ever watched.....

I don't even watch motor vehicle races......

I'm roughly 16 hours ahead of most of you. Love my Packers, but no way in hell I'm getting up at 0200 to watch a game.

NFL/MLB/NBA
Billionaire owners
Millionaire players
Both being supported by working class stiffs through taxes or TV revenue that is paid for by ads that cost is built into the price paid for the product/service
Have not watched NFL in years. The number of MLB games I watch in a year could be counted on one hand. Zero NBA games

If it weren't for Fantasy Football, I would not care if I missed any games including the home team Bills.
FF does keep it in perspective though. If someone gets hurt, it's on to the next victim. FF also keeps the interest quotient up for me.
I do enjoy NFL football...
Oops.... Wrong thread.

I've thought about cancelling Sunday Ticket...but walked back from that ledge.
Definitely not as important to me as it has been in the past.

Down to one fantasy league (can't bail after winning the year before) and one survival league (paid $1380 last year)

I don't watch Monday night, Sunday night or Thursday night games either.

I'll watch whatever game is on, but I ain't payin' for the Ticket or Red zone, or for anything that I have to come out of pocket.....and I'm not shelling out to go to a game. It's just entertainment. I don't give a shit about the players politics any more than what ate they for breakfast this morning.

As long as my third receiver gets a few yards and a junk time TD...I'm good.

Life long Raider fan here, I'll probably watch their games. It's been a long time since we didn't suck, so hopefully we can pull off a good season. I've been more of a baseball fan in recent years.

I stopped watching all football many, many years ago. If it doesn't utilize an internal combustion engine it's not worth watching.

A lotta ground to cover for responding to only those three sentences....

I agree, Spanos is an idiot. He fights everyone over contracts...everyone. He's the goose that can turn a golden egg into shit. Moving to L-A was just another dumbass idea. There's too much to do in L-A, win or become a non-event, generally. Look at the Lakers currently. Further, history shows the Chargers will be a non-event until Spanos is not directing.

Where they play; Carson in a soccer team stadium that seats max 25k...for an NFL team. That's for two years until the Inglewood stadium is built. The poor bastards of Inglewood are gonna take a bath financially. Yep, I'm predicting the future.

I didn't start paying attention to Spanos until recently. Now, the Eli GTFO of SD makes sense. I suppose Archie knew the deal from the start and helped Eli accordingly.

Overall, don't make deals with Spanos involving the Chargers.

Edit:

With second thought on the "Don't make deals with Spanos"....the dream of playing in the NFL and the Chargers is the only choice. Boy howdy, that's a lot to go through.

Chiefs fan here...

I don't do the Fantasy stuff, but I generally follow the Chiefs on a daily basis throughout the entire year...Off Season, Draft, OTA's, Camp, all that stuff. I'm not sure if I'm a 'die hard' fan, but I pay attention. As far as other teams, I loosely follow division rivals and the Rams, but not on a daily basis.

Ill watch the World Series and the occasional boxing thing, but the NFL is really the only sport I follow...

The NFL made it very hard to be an out-of-market fan. I paid them several thousand dollars over the last 15 years just to watch a few Bears games that weren't otherwise on TV here. No more. They've proven that fans like me don't matter spit to them. **** them. I'm playing golf on Sundays now. Sure, I'll catch a game here and there, but the care factor is way way way down for me and my wife.

They need to do what the MLB did with their streaming site. Allow you to just purchase a single team's games.

I've backtracked and gotten Directv. Since the free Sunday Ticket is over, the regular cost is ~$300, and now I've already found where to watch the games I want.

The major reasons for pirating include the many commercials already mentioned, the NFL as a company are, imo, SJW, and the cost of Sunday ticket. That's my reasons. Am I right or wrong? Meh, I know for sure I'm saving ~$300.

They've brought this on themselves. If they offered a $100/year sub for your particular out-of-market team, they'd do great. But they won't do it. The NFL forces DTV to carry every game on Sunday. It's particularly galling to pay for Sunday Ticket only to find that your team is playing every other week on Monday, Sunday, or Thursday night. That happened a couple years ago with my team and I really felt ripped off. Worked out to around $50 for every game I watched that season on Sunday Ticket.
