DSRC and V2X have been real things for years. Maybe the autonomous group per se isn't focused on it, but I guarantee there are engineers at GM who are working on these things.

It will be more than just the cars that change to accommodate autopilot driving. I'd like to get in on the ground floor of the companies that will provide special street signs, traffic signs, dangerous curve signs etc that provide feedback to the system for navigation and speed control.

RTI is one such company. They make a highly scalable and efficient middleware messaging library and several automakers are among their clients.

It is physically impossible for a Tesla to be in either AutoPilot of FSD mode without a human present in the driver's seat. Not that it's any surprise that the MSM could get a detail like that wrong.

Tesla has many safety features warning you that it detects no one in the drivers seat and detects no one touching the steering wheel. Those messages were clearly ignored.
