It was 2º this morning on the way to work. 9º on the way home. Atleast the wind calmed down. Saturday was insane with 40-50mph crap.

The forecast here is negative temps at night and single digits as the highs all week. FMR. At least we didn't get the snow this year.

When I was younger we'd go camping in the winter. The coldest it ever got was -20f. If you have the right equipment and know what you're doing you're fine.

I am just to old and grumpy to put up with it anymore.

I don't have the right equipment and I don't know what I'm doing.

I have bread, milk and toilet paper.

We camped out in the winter when I was in the Boy Scouts. The worst I think it was six straight days and nights, never got about freezing. We had, um, equipment. It was not the right equipment apparently because I was freezing cold all night long every night, and my stash of Ho Hos and Ding Dongs only lasted through the first three days. We basically spent hours on end huddled around the fire and often I'd get up in the middle of the night to get warm by the fire only to find several scout masters and kids doing the same.

When I got home my mom threw away some of my clothing. They were so foul from smoke that even after washing several times they still were reeking up the laundry room. Even my sleeping bag was ruined because I'd just leave my clothing on 24/7. Changing clothes or getting undressed was something only a crazy man would suggest.

Your scout leaders were incompetent. We made sure our kids went out with the eight equipment. Also plenty of Ho ho's.

Before going to sleep in cold weather you need to strip off all your day cloths and get the moisture away from your body.

When we went out in cold weather we set up a warming tent and the men would keep hot coco going all night so any kid who got too cold could come there and warm up.

I hate to hear about terrible camping experiences.

My coldest is -20F during the day, -35F at night. Steady 15mph wind the entire time, so wind chills were between -40F and -70F. The crew I was with lasted about 36 hours. I had icicles in my mustache down below my bottom lip. It was brutal, challenging and fun.

I agree, they sucked. Another time we went camping and it rained hard all night. Everyone's stuff was soaked, and it was in the high 30's the next day. Instead of calling the whole thing off, they had a few of the mom's come and take our wet stuff to the laundry mat. They put our sleeping bags and clothes in the dryers and even after running them for hours they were still damp. So then I got to sleep in a damp, cold sleeping bag the next night. It. Sucked.

On the winter campout thing, every day was supposed to get warm but never did. On the 3rd or 4th night it snowed like another 12", we already had about that much to start with. It just plain sucked. I can only remember one or two campouts we had with decent weather.

The many times I camped out as young adult went much better. I knew what not to do.
