Riley’s Rebuilds
I thought this was pretty cool.
This young lady will be going places in life with the kind of attitude she has. And kudos to her father. https://www.hagerty.com/media/people...eenage-tuners/ Take care, Steve |

I've always done my own, but it's nice to see young folks picking up the torch to carry it forward.

Good on her, I've had requests to rebuild many WCFBs and have done a very few for friends but certainly don't want to be in the business - or any business at my age....
The last one went to an anasthesiologist pal in the mid-west for a split window. His mechanic bolted it on and said he'd never seen the car run so well....he didn't tweak a thing. A youngster with the meticulous attention to detail to do this work nowadays is a rarity indeed. |

My '61 has dual WCFB's and has sat for the past 7 days or so. Today, as usual, a single pump on the pedal and instant light-off and nice idle. Points ignition too. I rebuilt these 7 years ago, and recently had to lower the float level in the secondary carb due to hot percolation with gasahol, but man, these carbs run like the car has fuel injection. No bogs or hesitation anywhere, just instant starts and instant throttle response. Some of the best carbs I've ever driven.
I too would NO WAY go into business rebuilding anything, especially old components where new parts are not available or are of inferior quality. The chance of something going wrong is 50/50, and people love to complain. Great to see younger forks 'pick up the torch' though!! |
