Camera recommendations
Time to get a new camera. I've been looking at entry level Digital SLR types such as this one: http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-Digital-Focus-S-18-55mm-3-5-5-6G/dp/B00HQ4W1QE/ref=sr_1_1?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1460090992&sr=1-1&keywords=Nikon+D3300
I was also looking at the Canon: http://www.amazon.com/Canon-18-55mm-Stabilizer-Professional-Commander/dp/B016VCJCSG/ref=pd_cp_421_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=0VQWA27AXWKEYE7DMQJ2 Read some reviews, and most said that the problem with Canon the last 3-5 years has been lack luster innovations. One review suggested that the Nikon was a better buy than the Canon. |

Nope. I currently have a POS Canon SX100 IS. The battery cover broke. I ordered a piece to fix it, but I really need to get something better.

First thing to do is go hold both of them. A comfortable camera makes for better photos. Personally I prefer Nikon. You might hold both of them and think they are too small, or maybe even too big. I always get a battery grip for longer battery life. It also makes it more comfortable in my hands.

I chose Canon because I had friends with Canon lenses but in 5 or 6 years I've only borrowed one once.
Nikon has eclipsed Canon in innovation lately, at the upper end at least. Not sure about the entry models but both are high quality. Don't overlook Sony and Fuji mirrorless cameras. Both make some great cameras though I haven't looked at pricing closely to see how they match up with Nikon and Canon. |

OP - have you replaced your camera? Is so, what did you decide on?
