Default 7 inches of snow this morning, and it's still coming down

Got the hay feeders in the runouts full. Troughs full and heaters on.
Stocked up on enough groceries to survive a nuclear event.

Glad it happened on a weekend. That'll keep the traffic down and let the plows do their work. It'll take a couple of days to dig out. I'm sure all the children would have preferred to have it during the week, but they will still probably get at snow day or two though.

Lit'l Bandit took one look at the snow this morning and decided to do his business behind the hedges where the snow couldn't get to. When he was younger, he'd plow through it having a ball. Now that he's middle aged, his attitude towards it is: "yeah, f'ck that".

How bad has the storm hit y'all that are in the path?

Good thing I got Mom's house cleaned out last week. I was driving back to GA in a 26ft Penske truck last Saturday at this time. Coming down Fancy Gap mountain in some weather would probably be a less than fun adventure. Hell, I avoided it partly last Friday because of the winds. Didn't want to be laid over on the side like so many other trucks.

7" for NC? They must be losing their minds. Don't let anybody talk smack, that's a good snow even for up North.

My friend from Pinehurst is on her way up and is stuck in Richmond doing 25 mph.

Couple inches here. I mean rain, pool was up a bit this morning. Had a storm go thru around midnight, lightning was popping so much it looked like a fireworks show.

Currently sitting at 19 degrees & not supposed to get above freezing today. Tonight's low is supposed to be 12 degrees. We got a very light dusting here last night, not enough to fully cover the grass.

That stretch of road gives me a pucker factor even in the middle of the summer.

We went through there in some lite snow in December 2015 on our way down to Florida for the winter. It was not a fun ride.

It is no joke for sure. Great view of Pilot Mtn. though! Once you crest the mountain at Fancy Gap, I grew up about 25 minutes on up the road. The fog on that mountain has always been outstanding!

Fancy Gap, is that the spot that joins the SS Parkway at top of the mountain?? a road coming from I 81 heading basically E/SE?? IF SO, that is the spot we missed the SS Parkway, and continued down the east side of the mountains for several miles....no spot to turn around, even stop.....what a mess, must have been near bottom of the mountains we finally hit a turnoff spot, part of a Park I think, and headed back up the mountain I remember the brakes on the car were really hating life.....wife's '99 Escort.....

Fancy Gap is on I-77. And yes, you go under the Blue Ridge parkway at the crest of the mountain. That said, Fancy Gap is only about 20-25 minutes from the I-81 intersection. 77 and 81 run together for a minute and it confuses everyone since it is 81 south and 77 north and vice versa in the other direction. You are also right about no where to turn until you get into NC. That mountain has its own weather patterns too. Crazy winds, fog, etc. Growing up near there, you were always hearing about a wreck of some type.

Had a slight dusting last night, but it has been "cold as hell" ( funny expression ) the last couple of days.
