I voted yes just for the political reason behind them.
Now that this has been brought to light if you have a gun thread that's about politics where are you going to put it.
The OP will get mad if someone moves it to PR&C and will argue it's about guns so it should stay in OT.

But I also voted pie because I'm hungry and want a blueberry f*cking pie!

If they did create a gun section, you could all still post there I'm pretty sure.

Data was correct. That's a part of this forums culture.

I have a question. When a new person comes to this site, and they run into the front page of OT which is heavy on gun threads, will they stay, or see this as a gun forum masquerading as an OT forum, and bail?

Here's another idea. Leave the technical threads in OT. They're moderately interesting to a non-gun guy like myself. When some douchepail can't resist throwing the gun control arguments in, move it to Politics. This will of course require a level of effort on the Mods.
