Thanks Sweetsie....tow truck showed up, car is back at the shop. The owner was very apologetic and promised to make it right, so all should be right with the world soon.

On the other hand, I haven't been to work yet.....

You'd think with the economy the way it is, businesses would be more service focused. On the other hand, so many are crying that they are out of work and suffering, and yet I can't hire anyone worth a crap. Sometimes it seems like nobody wants to work any more.....which could explain why my garage is full of trans fluid at the moment.

I know mistakes happen. But dang, don't people do after repair checks on their work anymore?

Even us novices check our work when we're done.

I've never owned a shop, so maybe I'm playing armchair quarterback here....but no car would leave my shop until it was road tested by me personally. Anytime I do a repair on the wife's vehicle, I road test it and double check everything before handing it back over to her.

Guess that's a thing of the past now.....

Yeah I work in tech and nothing is tested anymore. Cheaper to ship it and hope it works I guess... Pretty sad.

You should see the Construction industry. Being in Commercial Construction used to be somewhat prestigious. Workers were trained and Subs used supervisors. Shit workers were building houses. Now, if I wasn't watching every step, the phucking building would fall over

I have noticed that over the past few years. While waiting on my cars years ago I would always see them take off down the road, telling me I'm almost outa here as they're road testing it.

That doesn't seem to happen anymore or at least as much.

Oh, one time my wife went to pick up our Honda, we had a few years ago, and the guy said it was being road tested.

car came back and the mech got out with everyone's lunch from McD's.

I got into it with them on an AC issue and haven't been back.

Where you live, that's a possibility anyway... but I get your point.

I would have grabbed the bag and proceeded to have lunch. My car, my food.

I used to try to test drive every car that left the shop but it got to the point where that was impossible. Just have to trust the guys that are working for you. For the most part the only repair that I did not require a test dirve on and recheck was the replacement of bulbs. I had specific turn around spots for different types of repairs so hopefully any defects would show up in that time. Mistakes happen but I agree must can be caught before the customer seens the car. Also things can brake that the shop never touched, That just sucks for every one becuse the customer never seems to beleve that. Good luck dog let us know what they found

Military brat. Wudn't my choice. The govt gave my old man an all expense paid tour of SE asia, and he got stationed out here after. At least I landed somewhere conservative.

I do miss SoCal though....not enough to move back, but I miss it. Lotsa great memories.....My dad had horses he kept at San Dimas Equestrian center when I was a kid and I remember going riding up around Puddingstone. Used to spend summers with my aunt & uncle in Cerritos when I was a teen too. You can take the dawg outta California, but not vice versa.

At any rate....update on Marco.

He's back, and appears to be holding his fluids nicely. The shop was quite embarrassed...and the tech made a rookie mistake....he left a piece of the old gasket on the transmission body....not conducive to good sealing. I've had 24 hours to calm down now, so all is well again.

The shop owner as I stated is a stand up guy, and they made it right. We go back a long ways, and I would feel comfortable having them build another trans for me. I understand his position....I'm usually on the other side of the complaint desk, so we both handled it diplomatically and we're still friends. Mistakes happen, we're all human. Or canine and feline anyway.
