OK gents, I'm a little pissed off.
A little background....
Marco has had a minor transmission leak for a while now. Leaves a 4" spot on the garage weekly....drops half a quart every 3 months or so. This is next on the punch list to fix....I hate leaks. NOW...I've got a lot going on at work, very stressful, and I don't feel like wrenching right now. I decided to just run the car over to a long trusted shop and have the leak fixed. Dropped the car off at 0800 this morning. At 1100, they called, said it was the pan gasket, and the speedo seal, and it was ready. $75 total....hell, I won't get my hands dirty for that. I pick the car up and drive it home. I open the garage door, and back the car in...and that's when I see it......a 6" spot of trans fluid on the driveway I shut the car off and look under it......drip, drip, drip, drip....I can watch it dripping....hemorrhaging would be more accurate. I called the shop, they apologized, and said to bring it back....but I had to get to work since I'd taken the morning off to do this. I came home to this tonight..... I have a buddy that owns a towing service, and he's picking it up in the AM and it's going back. It should be noted that I firmly believe this shop will make it right, the owner is a stand-up guy and mistakes happen... I just needed to vent a bit. It's been a shitty Monday in every sense of the word. This was just the icing on the cake today....my day started off bad, and once I got to work, it went downhill from there. I drowning my sorrows in Fat Tire at the moment. |

Nothing pisses me off more is getting something fixed and you get it back worse than when you sent it in. Have a few more Fat Tires and a couple of shots of good Canadian Whisky (Dr. Sweetsies Orders) and all will be well tomorrow
Salude my Texan friend to Shit Happens. ps. It could always be worse, you could be up here in Fort McMurray with me |

Dang! If it makes you feel any better... I havent driven my Vette for 4 weeks now so I decided to start her up and warm her up in the driveway... I brought her up to 190F and reved it a little to 2k a few times nice an easy... I then brought her back inside and today I drove to school and there was a nice 8in puddle of oil... My Vette has never had a leak and now this happens!!! I think it might have something to do with the cold outside temp 5F and the hot oil cooling down quickly and maybe the block not cooling down as fast or something... I hope this isnt permanent!!

I'm really not ticked about the car near as much as the friggin' mess I have to clean up in the garage tomorrow night. And it will, of course, roll the mess out into the driveway as well....no way around it.
And yes Sweetsie...every time I start feeling sorry for myself, I think about you up in the frozen north, and I realize......the jokes at my expense aren't far away. Dogfish....I empathize my canine brutha....trust me. Leaks suck....big leaks REALLY suck |

Throw down some cat litter! Wait a little while? Enjoy a couple beers perhaps? Or maybe even call and threaten some employees!? And then just sweep it up |

with drmrman, just throw down some kitty litter and the cleanup will be alot easier. Damn, if it soaks up Sweetsie fluids it will soak up anything..Sometimes ( make that alot of times) these cars are a pain in the azz, but once you get out cruising the pain will go away quick.. WW

1. It's missing bolts 2. They overtorqued the pan. 3. They undertorqued the pan. 4. They misaligned the gasket. Really, this isn't brain surgery. I just have a lot going on at work or I'd have just put it up on (green) jackstands and done it myself. I'm very short on time right now and didn't want to spend my day off laying on a cold concrete floor. Now I have to take more time off work to dink around with this crap, have it towed, etc. |

That was a Tranny shop?
F nOObs mechanics. They over tighten the pan. Obviously they used cork seals, now the sell rubber seals. I just did that to my DRM and I'm good-to-go. You see Friz, that a message for you to move to SoCal. Over here, we put that bad boy on the lift and we do it while listening to music, drink beer and bash Mr. T. |

Thats the part I hate the most
Sir, we are sorry. Bring it in and we'll fix it at no cost. Ok sorry is not going to calm me down or fix the wasted time on this. Bring it in during working hours, how about my working hours? If the guys works on the clock, who's going to pay him for the time he'll loose for your f*ck up? |

Yeah, they never factor in the other stuff, do they? And it's not like they were tracking down an intermittent electrical issue....this is something any first week high school auto shop class should have been able to tackle. Now the car isn't driveable and has to be flatbedded. Yesterday I had a minor annoyance, today I have a major problem.
This is why I've always done my own wrenching, but I've got a lot of other crap on my plate right now and I just want it done and done correctly. Is that too much to ask? |
