Default Pleasantly Surprised

After two months of up & down up & down the scaffold, did a test run of both rails, started right up, no bad connections. Just have to install the safety wire for derailments, which I don't anticipate, out of 0 - 100 speed on the transformer, didn't go past 20. They are going to fly.

Looks good. There is a grocery store close to us named Marc's. They have suspended train tracks above the check outs with a 6 car train running on it.

Actually I'm just about done, just got the safety cable and hardware today for the anti-derailment barrier. Not counting trains and track which I've had for years, I have about $800 tied up in the structure.

I do have a question. With a length of track that long, how do you adjust for the voltage drop down the track? Do you a) have multiple taps off the same transformer to quadrants of the track or b) isolate the tracks between different transformers?

I remember when I was a kid that the train would slow on the back side of the track because of the voltage drop. We only tapped it at one point on the track.

I kept an eye on that, there is little or no voltage drop on the far end, steady run, quite happy about that. The trans is a 10 amp, no heat at all.
